92 4runner

hi havent been here for sometime .i have 92 4runner i going to put some new speaker in. i need to know what are the black boxes that the factory speaker are in.is it a xover or amp. there are 2 4" up front and 5 1/2 in the back also some twees at the top of back door.i going to put a new apline in and i dont know what iam infor. has anyone work on one before that can give me a little advise. thanks

Chris should be able to help you best with this one. I believe her had a '94 4Runner for some time.

Hi,
I had a 91, and from what I remember those were amps I thought. It's been awhile, so can't quite remember. They could have been crossovers, but I'm pretty sure they were amps.

Your best bet is to just run new wire and bypass them all together.

thank. i looked at the back one havent done the fronts yet. do you know if they have the same box. i found it speaker wires that matches a diagram going to the rear i can tap into i may use the box seen i have the right size speaker for them or maybe later getting lager ones.

I believe the front ones hooked directly to the head unit, and didn't have any type of external amp.
