Hey guys, the overcurrent protection light is on on my Xtant 301A amplifier. What could the cause of this be? Ground is good. How can I stop it from drawing too much current?

Increase the load to decrease the power.

I checked the resistance at the speaker outputs and also at the subwoofer box terminals and it showed 12 ohm. The subwoofer is currently wired for 4ohm. Is this a problem?

lol, you measured the DC resistance of the amp?
That has no affect.
You can check your DC Resistance on the sub. It must be out of circuit though.

Ok so if I find a resistance anything other than what I am wired up for, then the subwoofer is toast?
Also, even though I disconnect the speaker wire from the amp, I still get the overcurrent light. This might mean the amp is shot, right?

Yes. What is the lowest stable load and what load were you running at.

the lowest stable load the amp could run at was 2ohm. I was running at 4 ohm.

^ Yup, sounds like you might currently have a pretty paper weight.

yeaaa i figured as much... just curious, what would cause such a thing? just a regular failure of the amp and/or the sub, or is it something i could have done?
