Wierd problem Do i need a new amp?

Post by CaptainPioneer »

OK... Here's the problem
I think my Autotek amp is Fked up...

at least I think its the Amp...

Basically I get this rediculously high beep noise that stays on until I shut off the HU (thus turning off the power to the amp) and its so loud that there is no music that can be heard...

So i pulled the right channel wire and alas no loud deafening beep noise but with only one channel it sounds like crap like almost nothing is being sent out...

Or could it be the HU?

Brand new Alpine ida-X200... I dunno what to do... :argh :argh :argh :argh :argh

Try another HU. Is it a whine or an electrical beep? Typically its signal that causes that kind of issue.

its not whine... Let me put it this way...

You are listening to music... and then out of nowhere comes the loudest signal beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep continuously until you turn it off... Its so loud that I thought that my speakers were going to blow... NO LIE.

I'm with Bill on this one. I wouldnt imagine your alpine is much different than mine, but mine has the beep you can turn on and off. Have you tried resetting the unit?? Cause ever so often mine wigs out and wont do anything beside sit there and look at me, I reset and it is fine for several months, then it will do it again.

Mine is a few years old, but like I said I dont imagine it being that much different. I would try resetting the unit.

nah... I dont really know how to explain it... except this way...

Its not really a beep... Its a blaring loud signal as if I was trying to compete in a DB Drag at 800hz!... Easily in the 130's db range with this... I mean everything cuts out everything except that noise... It shows that the Ipod is playing a song yet just that sound goes... It really hurts my ears when it does this and it wont stop until I literally turn off the HU... and when i turn it back on its does it again... But does not do it if the Right side for the input on the amp is in... maybe what ill try to do is split the left signal from the hu and see if it still does it... If it does than that means it has to be the amp... if it doesnt than its either the signal wire or the hu...

I'm just throwing this out there, could it be interference with the signal cables?? How do you have them ran??

Let us know what you find out.
