oh wow, never knew they were gone.
When I first got into car audio, I used to buy those magazines all the time, but that was before the internet was around.

It was an alright magazine but they had one huge problem.

Look back/think back...

All those advertisements... Boss, Lanzar, Pyraimd, DHD Power Cruiser, etc... THey were the one paying for ads. They they would test their equipment for a review... I cant say Ive ever read/seen 1 review where they gave the product a 100% fair examination...

They did have a lot of advertisements in the mag itself. But I thought they did a pretty fair job of evaluation. I mostly liked the vehicles they featured. But like Chris it was before the internet was around, so I didn't have a whole lot of options that way. I also liked the tricks of the trade in the later issues. Steve Brown of Alpine did alot of those along with Zee Sadiqqi.

Ahh well

i miss it. ca&e was around since the late 80's or thereabouts...i still have some early ones in my dads basement. now im gonna climb in the way back machine again and ask if anyone here besides joe and mike will remember car stereo review...back in the day ca&e was geared more towards over the top installs like 4 15's in a mini truck or installs that were really nice but something you could do yourself.....whereas car stereo review was geared towards higher end type sq installs....not nearly as much fun....as far as reviews go, well, they are reviews and just that. they are a reference for which you can then decide if you want to go and check it out for yourself.
