Who here is MECP cetified?
Who here is MECP cetified?
I got a 67%, but i take physics next year so im sure that will be a lot higher then.
heres the test:
http://www.ce.org/certifications/mecp/e ... ID=2322307
there are some really weird questions in there, one about like what is the proper fire extinguisher.
anyways thats the test for 'basic', is anyone silver/gold?

Hey,
Im taking this right now....
What is the general rule regarding power and signal leads?
Always run power and signal leads next to each other
Depending on the installation, it is acceptable to cross the battery lead
Run the wiring parallel to the car's factory wiring for ease of routing
Depending on the installation, it is acceptable to cross the battery lead
All of the above answers are correct
See anything strange here?

haha, I suck....
44%
Seems to be a lot of stuff not car audio related on it.
I only concern myself with car audio. Not vide, GPS, Cell Phone antennas or anything else of the sort. I have no intrest in any of that, thus no desire to learn it...

Yes sir. Gold is 'master' certified.
MECP really isn't that useful unless you're doing this as a career/job. For home garage installers, most of the stuff MECP wants you to know won't apply, like dress codes, OSHA rules, advanced electrical theory, and all of that.
I did mine when I was working for a small retail chain in the DC area, after I got my BSEE. Now I just keep it current with my own registered business name since I'm a dealer for a few companies even though I don't actually sell anything. (I hate dealing with state tax codes.) Since MECP only applies to employed professionals, being a company owner qualifies me.
Anyway, a similar thread came up not that long ago with the MECP quiz. I think everybody posted their scores then, too. This is sort of like asking a forum full of backyard mechanics who's ASE certified, though. Probably very few unless they've had jobs as professional mechanics before, and went through the testing for their company.
It's a professional piece of paper that tells an employer you hopefully know what you're doing. That's all. Like being an MCSE or CNE or CCIE, it's only important if that's your profession and you need the paper to make more money. :)
