i hardly think that you are going to convince someone, espescially me, that a 1973 ford ltd station wagon emits less tailpipe emissions than a new tahoe or suburban.....regardless its not illegal to run a car outside but it is now illegal to smoke on a sidewalk if i understand things correctly....or better yet in a public parking garage, i know that to be true because i occasionaly have to park in ohio and cincy has had that in effect for some time.....its ok though because across the river in ky, newport is thriving......yea, i can go to the smokey side of the river and see a movie, go to the levy, the aquarium, a couple of clubs quite a few restaurants, mmmmmmmmmmm the hoffbrau haus......and i can smoke.............i have a car audio shop and i have.......drum roll please.........a 99 mustang that never leaves the building.....it has both gas and oil in it.....my building doesnt even have sprinklers........its too old. plus its all brick and metal.....for whatever reason they dont require it and they dont care about the cars staying there......

I can atest to Newport being a thriving town. Ive been there numerous times. WHile busy, it is an extremely cool little place- sorta.

Mansion Hill is about as awesome as it gets...

And that german bar/restraunt, Upstar Crow and the whole newport on the levee was ingenous- kudos to whomever developed it.

My biggest problem with the whole smoking issue is it takes away our right to chose. Nobody can argue against that.

It should be the establishments issue to deem if there is or is not smoking. If there is smoking I agree it should be in a smoking AREA.

Smokers have rights too.

Even our Smoker.

So with that being said, I guess if you get enough people to sign your petition Smoker it can make it on the ballot... Why not? Anything is possible.

I'm totally fine if a bar wants to have smoking, that's a place for adults who can choose to go or not go there.

Smoking should not be allowed in malls, or restaurants where children who cannot make that choice will be.

good point, i think i could live with that, a child isnt old enough to purchase cigarettes, why should he/she be old enough to inhale second hand smoke? i think that is a good idea

like your post was in any way serious. I responded in kind to your rather snide sarcasm regarding cars. On that note however, just becasue you violate laws by housing fueled vehicles in a store front, and haven't also informed your insurance of this, that doesn't mean it's right or ok.

PS An LTD is a passenger car and subject to a different catagorization than a Suburban.

sadly also unable to avoid smokers, especially when they are the child's parents, and unable to choose to or not to be around these people.
Even at home children don't have the "choice" to go somewhere else if they don't like the way things are.

Again, not unlike being around alcohol, except you don't get bronchitis or cancer from your parents being drunks.

personally, as a smoker myself, im glad to see the ban on smoking.
i know this is going to sound wierd, but, i freaking hate the smell of smoke. i cant be around anyone smoking, without smoking myself, cause it just bothers me too much. i acctually hate the fact that i smoke too. i just need to get the balls to quit. the ban i think will help reduce smoking everywhere, and really make people aware on how bad it really is.

first of all........its not illegal for me to house my car wwhere i do in the manner that i do, the zoning in my area allows for it as it would for a body shop or garage........secondly, smog is smog........here in ky unless you have a farm and use it for towing trailers a suburban is tagged as a passenger vehicle.......but regardless theyve been making suburbans for years pick one and compare it to a new one......do you honestly believe that vehicle emissions have not improved over the years? sure older vehicles were bigger in some cases, but they also weighed more and had poor fuel management compared to today and the power/weight ratio was worse....not to mention the fuel itself has improved...take a look at performance cars like the corvette, they are lighter and faster with more power than ever........they still get great gas mileage and have cleaner tailpipe emissions...........

the only reason this bothers me is because it takes the decision out of business owners hands, i think there should be a ban where applicable due to fire codes or public places that are geared toward children (the aquarium, chuck e. cheese,malls,home depot, lowes etc.), beyond that i think businesses need to be able to make the decision as to whether or not to have smoking and non smoking areas or ban it all together.

now glass, im not encouraging you to go chain smoking while running down the road in your dodge, and im certainly not getting snippy because you feel you made a better argument. im certainly the type who encourges common sense to governmental control regardless of the issue. if they wanted to limit the amount of time you could spend on the road in your car id be the first one to say it wasnt right. but honestly this kind of "we arent responsible for our own actions" attitude is the reason plastic bags carry warning labels not to let small children play with them or why sunshades for your windshield say to remove before driving....its common sense.

oh and btw, i wasnt being "snippy"....your just upset because i suggested you like to discipline little boys...........

nah, i would never do it because im against stricter emissions regulations on vehicles, i think its a neccessary evil but we need to enforce the laws we have and perhaps take a closer look at some manufacturing facilities as well...........
