Ok, those Sony subs that blew... are they single 2ohm voice coils?

That installer is an idiot and dont go back to him.

If this amp information is correct:

2-channel car amplifier
200 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms (250 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms)
500 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (4-ohm stable in bridged mode)
Low-pass crossover (50-300 Hz, 12 dB/octave)
Variable bass boost (0-10 dB at 40 Hz)
MOSFET outputs and power supply
CEA-2006 compliant
Speaker-level inputs with signal sensing for automatic turn-on
Preamp inputs and outputs
Fuse rating: 40A x 2
4-gauge power and ground leads recommended — wiring and hardware not included with amplifier
15-7/8"W x 2-1/4"H x 10-7/8"D

Then the HIFI subs are a good choice.

You can run out and get a set of subs that combined will handle 1000 WRMS. The issue is you only have HALF the power. I tend to follow the 80% rule- where as if your subs can handle 1000 WRMS and you have 800 WRMS it will still operate to potential, but not absolute FULL potential. Now only giving your subs HALF power isnt going to reach into its true potential- period.

I have other sub options but they are more expensive.

The American Bass DX subs are fairly wicked I hear. The trouble is your box is tuned to low for them, you would have to tune it to 38 Hz (cut some port off is round ports). These subs in 12" version run about $70 each.

I'm pretty sure the xplods were single 4ohm subs. And I understand what your sayin about the power, I just want somethin with a little more quality and "umph" than I think the hi-fi's will provide. I'll look into the DC's and I'll try and find somethin that will handle about 700-800 rms then so that they will be givn about the 80% power that you were talkin about because that makes a lot of sense to me.

I'm thinking about the DC 12inch level 3's. the specs seem to match up pretty well with my box. does anyone know how much they run and where I can purchase them?

ok so after some looking around I'm strongly considering these http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_181 ... b1240.html let me know what you guys think about it and if it looks like it would work well with my box and amp. its a svc 4 ohm sub just like the xplods so I could also keep the same wiring.

No.

You will only have 200 WRMS per each 360 WRMS sub.

The hifonics sub is a better sub than that anyhow, and cheaper!
