Need help with this.

ok well price set aside. do you think the hifi's or pioneer premiers would sound better in my set up. and just so you know i found those hifi's cheaper than 40 and it has the manf. warranty too.

The thing with going with a 'woofer that has a higher power handling rating than your amp can produce is that it becomes less efficient. So you can't get them to hit as hard as you could with a 'woofer with a power handling rating that's more suited to your amp and enclosure.

but if the amp produces 500w rms and the subs are bridged then why would they be underpowered?

ok thanks. one more question...the pioneer premier 2ohm dvc subs would work with my wiring and amp right?

If you went with two subs with power handling ratings of 500rms each, you would want to power those with an amp that produces 1000rms at the proper ohm load.

Those subs Ryan suggested have a power handling rating of 300rms each. Which, put two of them together gives you a power handling amount of 600rms. I doubt you will see even 500rms from that amp. Which is why the hifi's are a good choice.

but ive been told by a pro installer that figured out my subs were blown that the watts wernt being split between the two subs and each sub was getting the same amout of power which in this case was 500rms. so each sub was getting 500rms each

You want to wire your subs to present a 4ohm load to your amp. As that amp you have, from reading the specs, is designed to run properly at a 4ohm load.

So two 4ohm dvc subs is what you'll need. Someone please jump in if I'm wrong here.

Well, I'm not a pro installer like most of the other guys here but if your amp is capable of running stable at a 2ohm and it's producing 1000rms... you got me.

i think the difference would be that I'm not using 2 channels I'm just using one
