Yeah, I did the same experiment with the same results. Though, I have heard it does not always work. I too change my oil religously with a good filter and a good synthetic oil. What brand of oil and filter do you guys perfer? I'm just wondering I like Castrol synthetic and WIX/NAPA Gold filter.

I use Mobil 1 synthetic, and switch off between the Mobil 1 or Purolator oil filter in the 4Runner.

I also switched to one of those Tru-Flow air filters last spring. Gas milage went up just a tad after the switch.

I use whatever oil is on sale and i use a K&N oil filter just because it has a nut on the end and my truck is impossible to get a filter wrench on without taking the air intake off and going in from the top.My wifes suburban gets whatever filter is on sale usually a purolator. Bikes get Klotz full synthetic and fram filters.

Yup Castrol for me too and usually Fram filters.
