The W7 is a great sub, but I wouldn't go ported with it. IMO they do way better in a sealed box.

BUT

If you do want to go sealed the factory JL box isn't to bad. IMO they are way better than the average premade box, just not as good as a custom built where you can dial in the specs to fit your wants / needs.

Either way, any of the subs the guys have listed in the post would do you good. Some are better for SQ, some are better at SPL, but 99% of what I saw posted will do both well.

$800 will get ya 2- Massive CW10's 10" and 1- P1500.1 amp to push em or for a little less 1- CW12 w/ P1000.1, but with those 2 tens... they will take every bit of that amp and give you a heavy hit and a great sound in the right enclosure

rather than the speakers, I think the sub enclosure is going to make the most difference.

For rap, a ported 3rd or 4th-order enclosure will be more efficient, giving you more sound in that 70Hz-200Hz area with a smaller amp. But you will sacrifice lower frequency extension and sub definition.

because you mentioned the trunk, and AP enclosure would be ideal (not just because I have one). You only have to build the smallest enclosure that just fits around the speaker. One side is left open for the membrane (breathing into the trunk), and the conduit of the front of the speaker has to be completely sealed to your interior. You save a lot of trunk space. You can even make your own membrane using HVAC filter-like, fiberglass material sandwiched between a structural metal screens. there a web link somewhere, in which a guy describes the whole do-it-yourself process, so that you won't have to buy an expensive AP membrane

Then, it's critical to completely seal your trunk from the interior, which is harder than it sounds, to prevent the speaker's front wave from canceling out with the back wave.

To agree with swimmerdude, I like the idea of just one single sub. To me, it just seems cleaner, and more stylish.
