I'd stay away from the MTX, they are not as good as you might have hoped. A single 10" in a custom ported box will you all the bass you ever wanted in your S-truck. the L7 is a good sub, especially in that small of a truck. I had an S-10 with 1 L7 8" in a ported box, filled up the entire area behind the seat, hit 142.3 dB with a Kicker DX300.

it was a cube box, tuned with PNR ports (the choice of Street class champions these days!)

What are PNR ports. I assume it stands for something. I've never heard of them though.

PNR ports are Precision somethin somethin ports. basically it is a brand name for aero ports with flared ends.

not that great sound quality, but i bet it would pound hard as hell

probably precision noise reduction.
flared ports reduce port noise.
