Will components with the mid in a box on the floor and tweeter on the dash still sound ok?

I'd baffle those 6x9s to isolate them from the trunk airspace, then vent the deck lid into the cabin to equalize and couple air between cabin and trunk.
much better response then, all around.

actually i have a pair of cdt ef61cfi/25 powered by a jl 300/4.

i just wanted to use my old 6x9s because i drive people a lot and its annoying to have to strain to hear the music in a car.

I've asked several people that ride in the back of my car if it's hard to hear the music back there because I took the speakers out and they said no that they can hear it just fine. Also, usually when I ride in the back of a small car with the rear speakers right behind your head, it gets TOO loud at lower volumes and you can't hear anyone talking in the car. I say take them out.

yeah i know what you mean about when you cant hear the people in the front talking.

i guess i would take them out if it will help the sub perform better, never really thought of it that way.

ryan you mentioned that there should be no resistance, will the little stock speaker grill that fits over the 6x9 count as "resistance?"

To the air flow.

If the subs actually have to work harder to move the air from the trunk to the cabin you are losing efficiency.

THats why so many people preffer hatchbacks for comp cars....

Also when I had them big holes in the Monte it REALLY helped...

very true.

Typically taking out the 6x9's in a typical trunk car will yield a .2-.5db gain.

I'm for 0 rear fill anyway... stereo = left and right channel... not front L/R, and rear L/R... unless you have some sort of surround sound setup it defeats the purpose.
