Ditto. America's decay is our own fault, and unfortunately it's happening very quickly.

Yes, Alaska does have a large quantity of oil along with areas like the Gulf of Mexico but to drill, pump and refine the oil from within only the U.S. and try to keep supply above demand would be very difficult. You would soon find the emergency reserves your government holds diminish very quickly. The U.S. holds the largest amount of emergency crude oil reserves in the world at an amount of around 700 million barrels most of which came from Saudi Arabia. Since the U.S. uses about 20 million barrels a day and there are only 700 million barrels in reserve... well, you can do the math.
A small portion of Alberta called the tar sands has enough oil to supply the world for over 100 years but most likely much longer. We would have your backs but all of us would hardly be able to afford it if that day ever came.
Ryan from Ohio wrote:Israel will wipe the floor with Lebannon with ease, unless other countries step in.
True but it isn't technicly Lebanon they are fighting with at the moment, it's Hezbollah. Hezbollah is a terrorist organization that hates Israel for invading Lebanon in 1982. Though many Lebanese support them, the new Lebanon government simply can't control them.
Ryan from Ohio wrote:THink about it, Isreal is not wanted in that area by everyone pretty much. SO they have to have a decent military to ward off attacks. Also every able body men and women have to join the military and serve their time...
Right again, none of the surrounding arab countries want them there. Ever since Israel was created after the Second World War the fighting never ceased. The arab contries have attacked Israel a few times all at once over the years but Israel still stands. Israel is also a nuclear power and has shown amazing restraint. Do you think the countries that want to blow Israel off the face of the map would ever show that restraint?
Ryan from Ohio wrote:North Korea wouldnt be a big deal if we limit it to air/sea attacks. We tried the ground approach and pretty much looked stupid doing so. I guess times and technology has changed for us, so we could probably do it on the ground ths time...
The thing is North Korea would attack their closest neighbours and destroy their countries before ever going down. That's why they are such a thorn in the ass of the Western world. They hate all of us and what we stand for, mostly how powerful we are and how they can't control us. That's Dictatorships for ya.
Ryan from Ohio wrote:China isnt so much of a threat really. I think if they got into it with us Japan would be on our side, they are a good nation to have on your side ]
China is a small problem because they keep getting in the way of dealing with Iran and North Korea. Russia is doing much of the same because there is so much money to be made by these corrupt countries. Japan is definitely on board with the U.S.
Ryan from Ohio wrote:Im not personally worried about it unless it comes to our soil here. If and when it does every person that has a gun will need to fight, period. That means if your old enough to aim and pull, you fight. Even great grandpa...
I certainly hope that day never comes.

We have 700 million in the SPR, but that isn't our only reserve. We still have more oil in the ground in case of emergency, the SPR exists in order to meet an immediate demand. We have about 20 billion barrels worth of oil reserved if we need to pull it, which would last approximately 3-3.5 years if we imported no oil from elsewhere. We could keep up with the demand as long as we're smart about it.

Another problem America has with oil is that no new refineries have been built in like 20 years. Building refineries along with drilling for oil would lower gas prices immensley IMO, look on the bright side we have some of the cheapest gas in the world.

Israel can certainly defend themselves, I know their Air Force is top notch and their Israeli Commandos are bad ass es. It is true that terrorist organizations are attacking Israel. If IMO a country such as Syria attacked Israel during this fighting, technically they are, the US would most certainly step in to help its ally. But on the same token if Syria openly attacked Israel the US might have to help Israel as a way to keep them from wiping Syria off the map. They have taken alot and enough could be enough. Many people are calling for Israel to use diplomacy, but you cannot negotiate with terrorists. They are psychotic people that want to wipe Jews, Western people, and other Muslims who do not believe in their radical Islam off the map. Plus, since Israel has become a country they have constantly been preasurred to give up more and more land; under the guise that it will provide peace for the region yet Israel is constantly attacked by terrorists sponsered by the countries that they have given their land too.

North Korea would be a scary opponent, only because of China. You can't really ascertain how the US military would do against N. Korea by how they fought over 50 years ago, plus then they had Russian support. Also, with our influence the S. Korea military has become quite formidable, they also have decent equipment made specifically for the hilly wooded environment of Korea. The only problem with N. Korea is could the S. Koreans and the 30,000 soldiers hold off the N. Korea until other troops arrived. Japanese troops could be there relatively quickly, they could send some infantry troops with light equipment in about 4-5 hours but nothing very heavy ie. tanks could be there that quickly. Although, one thing quite a few people told me while I was there is that we were there to keep S. Korea from attacking N. Korea not the other way around.

IMO the best way to keep attacks from happening on US soil again is to continue to use whatever means necessary to track down terrorist who are or plan to plot against us. The time to wipe all the terrorists and their supporting countries, Iran, Syria, etc. is now. That will help scare other countries from wanting to mess with us, or any of our allies. We went through Iraq's army like it was nothing, and shortly afterward the dictatorship in Liberia, correct me if I am wrong, gave up their nuke program because they didn't want anything to do with us militarily. That wasn't because of appeasement and diplomacy, that was because we carried out what we said we would do and showed some of our military might in the process.

I also wish the media would stop breathing down our soldiers necks, and let the prosecute the war the way they can. I believe the two main objectives by most of the News Agencies is the gain support against the war and our troops, and to see how many Court Marshals they can rack up against our troops. To believe that their news coverage is objective, is to be igorant of the situation in Iraq.
