I know, I know. I'm just on the fence about buying something used, when I don't really have much experience with amps. I know he only used it for an hour, but, I've had bad experiences with barely used parts. If it's still available when I finally make the purchase, I'm definitely going to consider it. But, I'm still curious about power. Basically what everyone is saying, is that it will either fry the speakers, or they'll be fine. I don't plan on cranking it to 11, just want to have the ability to play them loud.

the only problem I'd have then, is that I don't think my headunit will drive the components very well. So, then I'd need a second amp, or run at 2ohms, and lose fade control..I understand my options, and your persistance is convincing me it's a good idea.

ok well here is the thing with used things... if you buy them, yes you run the risk of them being crap, but still if you are getting this amp you are talking about on EBAY you are running almost the same risk because really and truely they are not going to offer to fix that amp if it blows, is faulty, or you install it wrong... I have bought an old PowerPlate A/D/S Amp off of a guy i knew and at first i didnt know even what to do with it, but im telling you that its a great amp and the only reason i dont use it now is because i dont have the one cord for it anymore... Anyway... If I was going to buy anythign used i would buy it off of these guys here only because most are professional or extremely avid installers, and Justin is one of those pro's. The equipment he deals with is very good, and you can tell by the amount of respect he has from other people here. He wont sell crap here. Bar none. I feel like im pressuring you to buy his stuff and i appologise its just that when i see a bargain like that i wish i could jump on it... because trust me if i could i would buy his Bravox's right now if i could.

I'm definietely considering his amp. As far as the SS, i'm not buying it off of ebay, i found an e-tailer, that sells SS much cheaper than others. I would have sent him a private message about the amp, but I didn't have 10 posts, and then when I wanted to talk to him through my other thread, the car audio central server was having issues. I'm waiting to get paid, so I wont be able to make a decision today anyway.

This should get me to ten posts. With that eclipse, if I wired 4 speakers so that I could use the amp power at 2ohms, would I be maxing out the amp with the 120W rms speakers?

let me check into that

it says 300w x 1 but i would have to assume that means at 2ohms... that would mean that you would put about 75watts to each channel i think... hmmm i would have to ask Justin about that

I sent him a private message about it. I just don't have the money, or time to wire two amps. Thanks for all the help though.

like said above there is no one univerisal number for speakers. some are highly underrated and some are highly over rated. IF the amp you buy is to much for the speakers simply reduce your gains until they match. its always a good idea to have extra watts on hand for when you upgrade down the road. no sence in buying things twice if you dont have to. also i am not sure if you know this already or not but you said "I don't plan on cranking it to 11, just want to have the ability to play them loud" this leads me to think that you think of the gain as a volume knob. this is wrong. the gain is simply to match your amp to your headunit outputs. to little on the gains and you get less power but to much on the gain you get clipped power which is almost always the cause of a blown speaker. the gains DO NOT have to be all the way up for the amp to be giving rated power. if you search around there are some great gain setting threads. if you need help setting them when you get all set up just give me a shout.

haha...no, i wasn't referring to gain when i said "cranking it to 11", I meant it to imply turing the volume up all the way. but I will need help setting gains no matter what amp I end up with, so, thanks, and I'll probably send you a message.
