I think honda just came out with a 2.5 hp engine. Not a lot of power i know...but it revs to 7,800!!!!!!

I want one of those for a go kart!

Its in the Northern Hydraulics catalog.

It has to rev that high to make 2.5 hp? That's just...weak.

HAHA, but think about gear reduction and whatnot. Think how much faster a little go kart could go? Most small engines rev to what...4000 or so?

Nah Ridr, you want one of these. Same car in principle, just a little bit bigger (600cc honda F4i, and around 120+ Hp at the rear wheels. Not bad for a car weighing around 720 with fuel and a driver.

Man i'd have too much fun with one of those!

My bro actually made himself a "go kart" a few years back. We had a spare honda 450cc motorcycle engine laying around so he put it to good use. He made a custom frame, used saab steering knuckles, bmw steering box, rear bmw drum brakes, custom gas, brake, and clutch pedals.

Its a pretty fun machine, but having only rear brakes is really scary. We've only driven the thing about 5 times total. I'll get pics when i get a crappy digicam on monday or tuesday. Its quite the machine!

Yeah, but it's the same net result as a more powerful engine making it down low. That 2.5hp will have to be geared much lower to be able to accelerate at a decent rate, which will kill the top speed in the process. Nothing gained, you're just spinning the bejeesus out of an engine to get it there.

The Honda is the GX120 I think...

I may have to hit you up on that motor bill. I will be financialy exhausted after buying the roller for a few weeks.

Hope to buy it in 5 weeks...

My uncles always kept us entertained with go carts, four wheelers, lawn mowers with pulley swaps, old junk cars and pretty much they could think of...

One of my favorites was one of these...

I've been looking for plans or something to build a pair of those. Those look like so much fun to drive!
