Compared to MSRP, yes it is that much cheaper.

There's an example, actually. And that's an SE, no telling what the difference will be when referring to the SX, XXX, etc.

You may find some exceptions. Devin is a nice guy. Not all dealers are nice guys. Most dealers adhere to MSRP if they aren't competing with anyone.

Now isn't as much of an issue, though. The big adhesion to MSRP will occur once RE establishes a new lineup, in which the consumer will have no idea what a dealer could sell the stuff for. And I imagine that's what their new owners are banking on in the future.

RE SE 12 for $220 shipped, so I'm still paying mroe than what old direct prices used to be; however, it's stil lbetter than the new $350 price.
Thats what you mean right?

old direct price.

SE10- $165
SE12- $185
SE15- $215

So he is gettin a pretty good deal I say. it would be like 200, or a bit less if it wasn't for shippin.

Whats crappy is all anyone has ever known about RE prices is the direct price...

Not like they ever stated an MSRP.

If they think they are going to get $1600 for a 12" XXX they will loose market share...

Same with all subs. Why would I pay $200 (guesstimate) for an RE series when I can buy an EA comp or a JL W1?

Unless their dealer network literaly explodes this wasnt a smart move for them so quickly...

i agree... if i was going to buy a xxx 12.. i'd rather save the money and go buy 2 W7's for a wee bit more. (orhell.. .i think it might be the same price. 10's are like 6-700, the 12's are 800ish? and the 13's are 900?

You are probably witnessing the demise of RE.

Selling MFR direct, to me that means... your company is making what it needs, cashwise, to stay in business at a reasonable profit. It means you are striving to deliver better quality than your competitors. It means you have low overhead. It means I should be getting a good bang for my buck.

Selling to dealers only, this means you probably are restructuring to create cheaper products, sell them cheaper in bulk, and leave the shops to "deal with it". It means I have to then... "deal with" shops. It means shops now make a chunk of profit, 30% markup, at best? It means I'm paying more, and getting less. It means dealing with people who I don't WANT to deal with.

Take JL Audio for example... this company has made some really impressive products, but you are going to pay out both your ass and nose simultaneously for them. Compare the JL subs to online direct super-subs from any company, at a price ratio of a 2-for-1.

In contrast, take US Amps, always dealer only... who now has a cheaper Korean product being sold thru Ikesound online. Would'nt US Amps just be better off selling them direct? I believe so.

I don't know if I'm explaining this clear enough for you guys to see what I'm saying... but it's an inevitable decline, in my eyes. In the future, I'm betting both US Amps and RE names, will be under the Maxxsonics umbrella of products.

True...

But for those of us who would love to have a 15" XXX for under $700 to now find out its going to cost us over $1600 isnt very comforting...

Decision is clear IMHO, unless there is a dealer close by wanting to make a sale, look into other brands. Such is life I guess :words

Well, this is just my personal opinion, so please take no offense to it...

Whoever pays $700 for a subwoofer, gotsta have a hole in the head. Even Lawyer Malloy (Buffalo Bills) who has seriously disposeable income, does'nt buy shit like that... he bought Audiobahn subs for the bling factor.

And in retrospect, I guess that shows you where our hobby is at. Guys who really can afford the best, most massive, insane products money can buy....

still buy junk.
