I just spent about 45 minutes talking to Steve on the phone.. HE lives close to me. He seems like a straight up guy. I told him about recent spammers and scammers around here. But I feel comfortable sending my PG XS2500 to him, hell I have his home addy. So hopefully all will work out. I'll let you guys know how it all turns out. And maybe we'll have another reliable choice for amp repair. In my case ALOT closere than others, which can save upwards of $50 in shipping...

Ryan from Ohio wrote:Welcome to the board.
People around here and many other forums are very picky about amp repairs and who they will send their stuff to.
If you are looking to drum up business or make a name for yourself let your work do the talking. post some pics of repairs, etc.
Also your qualifications and a general list of common repairs, price, etc.
^I agree, but it looks like our buddy breakjunki is stepping up for this one.

But, you'll definately want to establish a lil bit of a rep around here and people here will come to think of you as part of the family :thumbsup

he can be my brother, like mikey. but i don't take candy from strangers. i won't even attempt to sell something until i've built a good rep, and i have earned respect from the CAC elders. nothing personal, no wet diapers. just more of a reality check of peoples natural feeling of untrustworthyness to strangers.

thats all well and good, but it sucks when things actually get to a state where we have to put our defenses up like that. I mean the poor guy got his ass jumped on, just trying to offer a service. I/WE know he's new, but thats not a great welcoming wagon. Especially when people don't know that this forum is ALOT closer knit than all of the others. But anyway, I'll let ya know how it turns out...

None of the guys here mean you ill feelings or wish for your business to fail, but many of them remember a guys on here about 6 months ago that promised to purchase/ trade/ or fix broken amps and he screwed a few people here over... That mixed with problems we've been having lately with general spammers makes everyone concerned.
So don't take it the wrong way as I'm sure the guys would love to get to know you and have you share your expertise into our lil community ;)
I myself look forward to seeing more of you in the future :D

No Problem,

I guess I was caught off guard and didn't expect the resistance! Forgive and foget!! I can completely understand. There are a lot of low life con artists out there and it can be a crap shoot. For those that are interested in my backround, I have worked in communications and telecommunications for 19 years now! I have been involved in CB, VHF, and UHF Radio Communications and their associated Linear Amps. About 10 years ago my company started repairing car stereos and Amps when business slowed down. It turned out really good and I found myself enjoying repairing and testing the equipment.

I was talking to breakjunki on the phone and I will tell you all the same thing.
I cannot fix everything due to extreme damage and unavailable parts. So you never know until you get in to it! I have had extensive soldering training and do neat, clean work! You have to when you work on equipment that is monitored by FCC regulations.

My intentions are to offer affordable repair for the end user or anyone who does install for a living to make a few bucks!! It is all about incentive. I have a telecommunications repair business that has been going since Sept. of 1994
and it certainly would not have lasted that long if I was screwing people over.
If anyone has any questions on what I do or about me don't hesitate to contact me.

Thanks , Amp-Repair-Man
