Getting another mustang.

Post by MobileAudio219 »

This one is an 87 gt. My cousin recently bought it and oil pump went out and he doesnt really want to mess with it, so he offered me a pretty good deal on it, so I figured why not?

The car currently has a short throw shifter (unsure of the brand as of right now), saleen spolier, pony rims, flowmaster cat back exhaust, electric fans, 3:73 gears & cai.

Should make for a nice daily driver after the engine is replace, this time Im wanting to do the explore X swap.

Fords. *shakes head*

You know you don't have to replace a motor to fix an oil pump, right?

that exploreer swap is a good one to do, the explore has a better top end than the 5.0 they put in the mustangs, the explorer motor has gt40p heads which are basically the same as the gt40 heads except they are iron and the plug placement is actually better as it is more central to the valves than on the gt 40 head, the drawback for the mustang is that you have to use specific headers because the standard 5.0 headers wont work as the different plug angle causes interference with the plug wires....

I actually thought about cleaning the 86 up real good and selling it, but I dont know if I could actually do it or not. If I keep it I'm going to restore it to how it looked when it rolled off the assembly line, well with different rims and exhaust.
The 87 is in pretty decent shape, theres a few dings here and there, but nothing to terrible. I'll probably repaint it this fall. The interior is in decent shape, but the previous owner before my cousin painted a few off the interior pieces blue, those pieces will be replaced asap. The car drove pretty good, and should be a good project car.

And I want to replace the motor because he drove it a few miles without any oil pressure... and the gt 40 x motor would be a nice increase in performance, I can pick up a low milage motor from the local yard for about 400 bucks.

That is indeed a sweet car!

If my cousin doesnt come through real fast on his side of our deal then I'm going to tell him to just keep the 87. Its been a couple weeks now and he still hasnt fully came through on his part, and he looks like it'll be another couple weeks and I dont want to wait.... So unless he quickens his pace a little or I find something else I'm back to just one stang...
