TMA T1000.1 or Lightning Audio Storm X1.1000.1D?

Post by GaryPham »

Hey guys, I'm looking to get a cheap 1000 RMS @1 ohm amp and have found a fairly good deal on these two amps, but need help deciding on which of these 2 to get.

To my knowledge, TMA is a subcompany that is made by JL audio, and the Storm/Strike line of Lightning Audio are actually made by Rockford Fosgate.

I have heard many people saying that the Storm amp actually benches at a legit ~1100 RMS at 14.4V, but haven't heard much about how much the TMA amp benches at.

Long story short, I can get the storm amp for about 15-20 dollars cheaper than the TMA amp but was wondering which of the two I should get. If anyone has had personal experiences with either of these amps and can give me their input, that would be great.

Now keep in mind that this is only my opinion, but I've seen quite a few problems with the Lightning Audio brand over the years... Now I'm not saying that they have improved or not, but as amps go I think I would have to be leaning more towards the TMA... if for only the fact that they come right out and say that they are a JL company and I know JL would not badge it if they were affraid that it was sub par equipment... Lightning Audio on the other hand... while the proffesionals may know that they are a Fosgate company... the masses are still left pretty much in the dark about it, probably due to the fact that it is a lesser company... but that's just me ;)

the TMA amp will do what it says it does. i do not have personal experience with the TMA amps, but considering its made by JL its going to be a solid amp.

the only thing that might sway you is, the TMA line does not carry a warranty. but i wouldnt let that distract you.
