New Tacoma's

Post by William from NOLA »

Well, now that my car is making more and more rattles, squeaks, and squawks (well, and not to mention the motor mounts broke off last week...) I am going to get something new soon. As many of you probably remember, I smashed the bejezus out of it last December and it was repaired.

I'm looking at the new Tacomas. I think I'm set on a DoubleCab V6, TRD offroad package (with locking differential), and towing package. Anyone have any thoughts on them?

I'm not buying until June, but there are still more cars I want to test drive first. I would also like to look into Subaru Legacy GT's (may be out of my price range though), Toyota Camry's, and whatever else I think I have an interest in.

I loved the New Tacoma's! They are great trucks... Grantted the Silverado will beat it offroad, but thats minimal... You get the usual Toyota refinements and it is totally worth it to get the TRD Exhaust on it. Sounds great!!! Also... if you are looking into getting the New Camry, I have a new one and I love it... Its a fast car! It out accellerates everythign in its class, even the new Maxima. And you would be also suprised that it beat out the BMW 5 series with the big 6cyl in acceleration as well.

Only con i can think of with the Camry is, the 6 Speed tranny is a lil jittery sometimes between 1 and 2 gears, but its not that noticable. The stock Sound system is great in the Camry, but its difficult to get to the Rear 6X9's in the back cause u have to pull the entire back piece off to get to them...

Big Pro: HUGE TRUNK!!! This sucker is as big as a Caddy and its moderately tall as well. Great amenities in the car like Motorized seats and an MP3 Jack in the front.

Other than that this car is great...

Cant say it really any more but its fast! It has the Lexus 2GR-FE Motor in it so u know its good quality!

The equivalent Silverado doesn't out accelerate or get better gas mileage (worse). They have horrible resale values, but I'm still going to go drive one. :)

I'd be getting a 4x2 Tacoma which I forgot to add. The locking differential would be all I need if I were to get into anything a little bad (which would be a good idea to avoid anyway! lol). There aren't any mountains or things that really resemble hills very close to here either haha.

Well I'll jump on about the Legacy GT... Great cars, I drove one for a couple days when they changed over to the new design with the boxer motor... quick, responsive, and loved the manual 6 speed... SI-Drive is pretty cool, but I can't say that I really felt that much of a change in the way it drove, but it would probably show at the pump over the long run... Plus I really liked the way it fit - everything in reach... plus it's a Suby so naturally it has the awd which is just nice all around.

Well yea, they're new haha. I don't think I would ever buy a first year new design, though. Tends to be problems.

Just stay away from Chrysler for the time being till everyone knows what the new owners have in store for the company.

And If I were going GM... I'd have to say new Avalanche... pricey yes, but holds a good resale value and the new design is awesome :)
