Eclipse EA3422 & SP8992 6x9s, how to wire?? Will it work??

Post by mms16 »

Hi I recently bought some new (used but new to me) stuff and was wondering what you guys recommend as an installation. I am going to put it into an '87 BMW 325is.
My idea--
Have the clarion deck's integrated junk amp (18w rms) drive the front crappy 5.25 kenwoods..
&
Bridge the eclipse amp and have it drive the higher end 6x9s--
THE OPTIONS/PROBLEMS:
The 6x9s are bi-wireable and the deck has 2 sets of preouts... should I send one amp channel to each speaker (6x9 woofer, 6x9 tweeter, 6x9 woofer, 6x9 tweeter)??
OR
Is this amp to powerful to drive the 6x9s?? Should I use just 2 channels and leave the other two channels unused (could drive a sub later if I wanted to add one)??
What do you guys think... How would you recommend setting this up?
Does anybody know a link for a PDF amnual for this amp?
Any insight is appreciated, thanks in advance..
THE DECK: CLARION DXZ555MP
I know, cheap deck that plays mp3 files-- but it was an ebay specail for $35
The front speakers:
Older Kenwood 3 way 5.25 front speakers-- they sound almost decent, but pretty must just the standard "bestbuy special" (they are already installed, so I am leaving them)

• ChannelFlex Crossover
The rear SPEAKERS: SP8992 (4 ohm-- Eclipse SP8992 Point Source 6x9s)
Continuous Power Handling: 85W
Music Power Handling: 170W
Frequency Response: 40Hz 20kHz

Well its a four channel amp so use it as so.

50 WRMS will sound better going to all 4 locations rather that 85 wrms going to two rear 6x9's. Thats for sure!

Decks are easily upgradeable when/if you want to.

The front speakers are very vital. The rear 6x9s can be deleted and really not missed. If you would of stuck all your money into good front speakers, you wouldnt even notice you dont have rear speakers. Thats what Im getting at here.

Personally, I run a very nice set of components and dont run rear speakers at all.

I gotta say I'm with Ryan on this one... You seem to be concentrating to much on your rear and disregarding your front stage entirely... do some reading through the fact threads and you'll see what we're talking about.

As far as the amp and 6x9"s, again as Ryan stated... 4 channel amp and the speakers are a total of 4 channels, just as simple as it gets ;)
