battery box..
battery box..
ok, well in a couple days im going to add another battery and do the big 3., i alreay have everything, largest Everstart Maxx battery, 40 or more feet of 1gauge wire, terminals.. fuse.. etc.. anyway... can i make a battery case out of MDF to house the battery, it will be behind the seats for now, til i get a bed cover. and will be vented ofcourse.. if i can make one out of MDF, ill make it like a little chest, with some holes on the top and sides for good ventilation.. also, i just take the pos/neg from the battery under the hood to the pos/neg to the new battery right?

Where is this sitting? I'm guessing either under the hood or in the trunk. In either case, water could potentially get there, so you should make it out of plywood. MDF is going to absorb water VERY easily, bloat out and fall apart. Plus, you don't have to worry about plywood crumbling if you hit a bump too hard.

Question... How Big is the battery? (dimensions)...
Reason I ask is, they make plastic housings that you can buy from parts houses and camper supply stores... It'd be a ton easier and it will hold up for the long haul, can even be moved to the new location in the bed later too
If it's still too large for one of those, then I would recommend building a housing out of light wieght sheet metal with L-brackets or angled metal bolted and then caulked on the inside.

hey.. actually this is going in my truck.. my truck is a 96 S10 ex cab, and i unbolted one of the stupid seats that fold up in the side of the truck out and i plan on bolting the wood down to where the seat used to be, as it would be secure there.. i plan on making the battery box out of mdf... and ill make sure that it will not tip over or bounce around, and be ventilated well for sure. any input on that?
