sound deadening

Post by churchbouy »

I need some help with sound deadening materials. Are there any ‘real’, cheaper alternatives to Dynomat. I have heard of edead, and brown paper are they comparable. Are there others???? :help:

The FAQ section has a full listing of the different brands of sound deaener. I used eDead and it works just as good as dynamat, and it's only $1 per square foot.

eDead, brown bread, fatmat. lots of alternatives.
if ya want to go real cheap, go to home depot and buy a roll of roofing material that they lay under the shingles as an ice barrier. same stuff, but a bit thinner, and the adhesive isn't quite as good on sheet metal.. but it does the job.
another alternative to matting is spray-liner.

yeah I forgot the name of that product at home depot. it's aluminum on one side and sticky on the other and comes in a roll. they'll know what it is.

I looked at Lowes for that stuff.

I didnt find it, but I did find some brown stuff thats similar w/out an aluminum backing.

Was like $60 for a roll....
