yes Bi Polar is a bit different than ADD.

ADD is controlled with precise discipline and meds.

Bipolar can only be controlled with meds as the person has a chemical imbalance in the brain. These people you can beat to a bloody pulp and it usually doesnt register they are doing wrong when they get "bi polar"

Went through the Bi polar deal with a former ex. My god what a nightmare...

Dealt with the ADD with my kid. I proved one doctor and my ex/her family wrong as I was right! She didnt have ADD, just a severe lack of discipline which I fixed real quick ;)

If you ain't got it or haven't seen someone with it, you'll never understand, and even then it sometimes doesn't make any sense.

I don't know if anyone here knows my story, but I spent two years parked in front of this screen waiting on my disability to come through and another year "enjoying" it. Been hospitalized 3 times and been on more drugs than you can count, including lithium AND ritalin, and zyprexa which just happened to kick in a nasty case of type II diabetes. We can argue all day long about about whether manic depression is an illness best treated by drugs or enviroment, but anyone claiming its NOT an illness is simply misinformed or just plain ignorant.

Happy to say I've got the blood sugar under control, and have been steadily employed in my dream job for nearly a year now and should be losing the disability here in a couple months.

Oh and if I was denied a job corps opportunity because of a stigma attached to bipolar illness I'd be raising bloody hell. In the meantime, k0rny, if you're a praying man, give it a shot! I give full credit to God for my recovery. I basically got so pissed off I called Him out, asked Him to show me what He had or lose my faith in Him forever.

Guess He liked having me in His corner.

:)

Oh and if YOU ARE SERIOUS about welding. I know a couple people down here in South Florida who while having problems(one bipolar/schizophrenic, other drug addiction) got a job with Pipewelders:

Nothing like hands on experience welding tuna towers, especially if you like to fish. :) I can't promise anything, but I'd be happy to look into it for you.

Where there is a will there is a way.

Sorry if you took it the wrong way... I didn't quite mean it like that.
I've actually known quite a few people with ADD and Bi-polar diseases, (and yeah I know they're different). It just upsets me when I see children OVER medicated as seems to be the norm, rather than spending quality time with your kids and disciplining when needed... It just seems to happen more and more these days... zombie children.
So please don't take it offensively.
