What amp for these polk speakers?

Post by kaz716 »

I have 4 Polk db651 6.5” Coaxial Speakers in my 2002 Saturn SC with an old kenwood head unit. What amp would be best for it. I was told to get a 4 channel amp and also what would be the best head unit to go along with the speakers and amp, and im not looking to spend more than $400 on the amp and headunit thanks

If you want to amp all 4 speakers, then you'll want to get something in the 50wrms x 4 range or if you just want to amp the front stage then a 50wrms x 2, obviously you're not going to be looking at high end equipment if you only want to spend $400 on amp and h/u unless you find something decent used... try checking the "For sale" section here or look into Power Acoustik for low budget amps... as far as your h/u, there are alot out there that are good for under $200 from Pioneer, JVC, Jensen, Panasonic, and even Kenwood.

+1 with what Cargodz said.

I know Bwcad1 has a 4-channel amp for sale in the FS section. That could be an option. My friend just bought a Power Acoustik Gothic series amp and it seems pretty nice for the lower price he paid. They seem to be very good, cost efficient products. They are also plenty of HU's out there that are had for pretty cheap. I have had a little bit of experience with the mid-line pioneers and they seem to be really nice. And I really like Panasonic units, i want to get one myself too.
