Sound Deadening Inside Doors

Post by Fishy »

I've got a '96 Explorer Sport with a pair of MB Quart 5 1/4" Q's in the doors as my front stage. I've got the inner panels sound deadened, but the loudest part of my car outside is coming from the Quarts through the outer door panels. I'm in desperate need of more front stage midbass and figure anything I hear outside is just wasted output, but I can't fit my arm through the only available opening to fully install sound deadening mat.

Is there some spray that would do the job w/o costing me an arm and a leg? I know Kiki mentioned Lizard Skin or something on the eCoustics forums but I can't find it on Google. I think it was fairly expensive and can't remember if it came in an aerosol can either.

Any suggestions or other ideas? There's a lot of junk in the way.

thanks

Stuff ain't cheap, but it's really good. There were posts on this forum about a polymer based sound deadener that was similar, can't remember the name of it though.

there's liquid eDead, and then http://secondskinaudio.com/products/ I believe he has some liquid stuff, pretty damn pricey, but I know they get there stuff from some overseas company that stinger uses too, supposedly pretty damn good. although I dont know if it can be sprayed, im pretty sure the eDead is more of a thicker substance, but not sure on the secondskin. I believe it's called Sludge or something, you should see it on the website. I also believe Rockford Fosgate makes a spray on called Dead Skin or something... Ive heard of people using things like spray on bed-liner too, in fact I've read a couple threads on it on another forum so ill try to find them for you. good luck.

Thanks Jonathan.

Yeah thats the stuff, but I don't have a spray gun and am not even sure I could get one inside my door far enough to get decent aiming potential. Hmmmm... they have some "rubber" spray paint thats used to coat boat anchor chains to inhibit corrosion and keep you from marking up the deck. I wonder if that stuff would work.

Lol. I can see it gettin awful messy inside my doors.

Search this forum for a thread on sound damping... I posted one about 3-5 pages ago.
