Maybe just me?

Post by BryanX33 »

Well you know how they have brake fluid for your breaks? Well do they make fluid for your gas pedal too? I have a 97 Mitsubishi Galant, and the gas pedal is a lot harder to push in than the brake is. It also feels like the gas pedal doesnt pump back as fast as it should, or doesnt pump back normally. Maybe I just need to get used to my new car? Or can anyone who has or has driven a 97 mitsubishi galant let me know if thats how its suppose to be?

I dont understand your question. If you're asking if the car I wrecked is the same car as the one I have now, then no. The car I wrecked was a 93 Nissan Maxima

um no, there are no hydraulics controlling your gas pedal (at least to my knoledge) Im 99% sure that it is actually a cable which runs from your gas pedal to the intake. Being a 97' the cable is obviously old and may need to be replaced.

If it is actually a cable just try and oil it.

It's either the cable or the spring. Both are easy to replace. Oil the cable first before replacing it, and of course a spring is dirt cheap so you might as well just replace that anyway.

Yeah cuz the brake pedal isnt like that. The brake pedal is normal. I've driven my old car, my moms car, my uncles car, my dads car, and my grandmas car and none of those cars gas pedal felt like this one, so Im thinking it might need to be oiled

Replace the spring, you'll be done
oiling won't fix it more than likely may help a considerable amount though.

spring is either too tight or it needs oiled.. whenever me and my wife got our new car, we had to take my red one off the insurance for a bit, it had sat for about a month and today i just got it insured again, and the gas pedal is a little tight, but it has loosened some, what im getting at is, if the car had been sitting for a bit, it may be because of that..
