Clifford Matrix RS2 Problem

Post by vette92_1 »

Hey guys new to the forum. I had the Clifford Matrix RS2 installed about 2 years ago. everything has worked fine until here recently. It has started arming and disarming completely on its own? Approx 1min in between each function.

It doesn't do it when the car is running, and only does it sometimes when I shut the car off?

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

dont no a damn thing about car alarms but if its two years old what about the remote battery. It could be dieing and sending wierd signals to your car. The remotes usually dont work when the car is on so that would solve that problem. Possible signal interference to the car?

If it's 2 years old, you may want to start by looking for loose wiring... alot of things can come loose in 2 years just from normal vibration.
Start with the ground wires.

Great, thats just my luck, I probably got the 2 year system. :argh

I will check for loose wires this week end. As far as the remote battery, i thought the same thing, so I took it out of the remote while it was activating/deactivating the alarm and it didn't change anything, it continued for several minutes until I finally started the car up.

Thanks guys for info. If you have other ideas let me know. :thumbsup

Hay vett, that thing should have a life time warranty. Call the place you got it, and ask.

does it do it as soon as you turn the vehicle off?
how long/how many times does it arm and disarm?
does it happen every time you shut the vehicle off?
do the doors lock and unlock with it? or does just the siren chirp?

i think it might be the remote itself. or possibly a loose connection like Micheal said. if the shop you got it at is still around, call em up.

No, when it does do it, it starts approx. 1 min after the car has been shut off, and continues to cycle approx every minute there after.

It appears that it would keep doing it until it litterally runs the car battery down, as a matter of fact I went out of town a few weeks back and my car was setting at the airport for about 10 days. When I got back the car battery was dead. The car battery is fairly new (Approx 6months old).

No, so far it does not do it everytime just occassionally.

Yes, when it does do it, it does cycle the door locks, as well as the siren chirps.

I tried removing the remote battery while it was arming/disarming and it continued until I finally started the car. I did go ahead and change out my remote battery and it did it again today. I have not had a chance to dig in under the dash yet, I'm dreading that, being a Corvette it is very cramped quarters and wires everywhere. I'll probably remove the front driver seat just so I have enough room.

Unfortunately the place where I had it installed is no longer in business.

Has anyone ever heard of one doing this before?
