Battery Isolator Info

It means that when your car is off, power from the secondary battery will only be used when you play the radio. The primary battery under the hood will not be affected with the car off. So basically, you can shut off your car, play your stereo until the secondary battery dies, then start your car (which will use the primary battery) and let the second one recharge.

sort of, thats not quite true in most cases....your head unit will still be powered by the start up battery unless you rewire it to draw from the backup battery but then you wind up having to remember to turn it off when you exit the vehicle......most instances will have only the amplifiers drawing from the second battery but i still think a high output alt. with no isolator is best

Got the high output alt from excessive, its a 200amp. and im runnin the stinger sp1000. i better go get the battery/alt tested. hoping its the battery cuz the alt is a bitch to get to. cost me 120 in labor to get it installed.

I agree with smoker on this one completely... High Output Alt is the easiest and best answer to this project... sure it'll cost more, but definately more worth it...
Isolators are meant more geared towards accessories that require use when the vehicle is turned off like in R/Vs and such.

Im gonna go to Sears and have the battery and alternator tested.

This problem started after I had my car in the shop to get the water pump replaced. I dont know if they had to get to the alternator or the battery or not.

Everything was completely fine until then though.

And yeah they probably removed the Alt to get to the water pump.

10 bucks says he comes back and says sears says the alt is bad

and it doesnt do what its supposed to. there machines dont have the capacity to check high output alts.

I ain't taken that bet... cause half the people I've met that took their alt to Sears said that the alt was bad when it was a bad battery or connection
