Subs making buzzing sound

Post by kevinberry1 »

I just noticed tonight while re-tuning my system that my subs make a light buzzing or humming noise. The volume was really low, which I believe allowed me to hear this for the first time. Just wondering what this noise could be and whether it is potentially harmful?
I am running a Hifonics nemesis 750d mono amp at 1 ohm for 2 12" dvc Kicker comp VR's. I have been running the speakers this way since last July and have had no problems with my setup to this point.

If anyone has any info it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance :)

I don't hear any unusual sound or engine noise coming from my components which are powered by an amp with the same gound isolation block, but I will give it a try. Thanks guys.

Pinched sub amp rca or maybe a stressed end terminal?

If you've got two rca's running to that amp try disconnecting them one at a time and see if the noise goes away. I had rca plugs pushed up against my center console post and it induced some noise in my components until I relieved the pressure on my xover's rca outs.
