Lpf?
u dont want to buy one. thats a bad idea. sure it maybe louder but tis gonna sound like a wet donkey dong slapping a 55 gallon drum. have one of us box builders make you one or make it yourself. and if you didnt hear a diffrence from a ported box to a sealed box y do almost every single spl compeitor like myself use ported/bandpass designs?
I never said I didnt hear a difference, my friend did. And how much do you guys charge for two circular 12"? Also, I found out why my subs were making a weird noise like that. It was because I had my volume up too loud for that specific song... If I get a ported box, will I be able to put the volume up a little louder? or will there be no need?
and what the HELL does a wet donkey dong slapping a 55 gallon drum sound like?

Um having the volume up to LOUD on a song is a weird diagnosis. If its the same volume you are playing all your other songs at its not to loud, its a posibility that your still clipping. If it isnt loud enough when the gain is set properly time to get a new amp a BIGGER one. Dont forget a gain is not a volume knob so you cant treat it like one. My first set of subs werent loud enough so i cranked the gain lkike a volume know, next thing you know my subs started making odd noises. Well about a month later one burnt up and the other not so long after. If your subs are making wierd noises i would suspect your sub is in the process of slowly dieing, especially if output is being lost noticably on some songs, and odd noises are arising. Ported box will help you get louder, but if that gain is still set to high your till ruining your subs. Weird noises are a major concern. And a new box could fix it if its simply an air leak in the box. Or you may have somehting loose in your trunk turn the song on and go investigate thing. check for air leaks and find the exact source of the noise. But yes you are on the right track if you have someone here build you a box. Your just diiging a bigger whole if you buy a pre made one.BryanX33 wrote:I never said I didnt hear a difference, my friend did. And how much do you guys charge for two circular 12"? thanks for the responses. I think I might have someone here build a box for me. I just need to know prices. I think I should just set the gain to what it should be, and just live with the fact that its not gonna be that loud until I get a ported box. My mom brought home a DMM from work today, not sure if its the right kind though. Can anyone tell me if this is the right kind?

Now that you have the dmm... when testing make sure you set it to AC Volts... that's what you'll need for the proper reading :)BryanX33 wrote: My mom brought home a DMM from work today, not sure if its the right kind though. Can anyone tell me if this is the right kind?

Alright, I think its set too a pretty good level now. I had it on 3 notches away from all the way up, and it was clipping (sounded like hollow bass). The DMM didnt work :/ but what I did was I put on a song with really low bass, put up my volume to the level I listen to in the car all the time, and just kept lowering the gain until I didnt hear anymore distortion or clipping. Only thing is, its not as loud as it was before
but im sure that will be fixed when I get my hands on a good ported box
