I have heard of some people around here that let the police deal with their child problems. Although my children are young, I am going to write down the one about cutting the electricity, that is a good one and so true at that. I think that my father threatened me with that if I did not straightnen up. :happy055:

Got a bad teenager...give them a chastity belt...
don't give them any money
If they are out past curfew go get them yourself (bring a weapon, depending on ur lvl of bad teenager everything from a small spatula to a gun could come in handy)

Remember you are the parent.

Now if my parents tried that crap on me when I was a teenager..well either me or my parents would be dead lol, I was too headstrong at that age.

I know that my parents loved to hand out the whoopins even if we did not deserve them, but it made me think twice about doing soome things, and not think about it with others.

I'm not sure man, you have a lot of hormones running in you and peer pressure from friends. My parents actually did a very good job raising me. I got myself into trouble and they understood that and we'd discuss most of my actions.
Only things I ever lied to my parents about was smoking weed and they weren't mad I was smoking weed just mad I got caught. They didn't approve of smoking it but thought if I was going to smoke, at least be sensible and realize the difference between a gateway drug and something like cocaine.

I got my ass whupped a few times and there are a few things I'm VERY adement about that they taught me. No drinking and driving..call a taxi and my rents and they'll pay for it. I woke my mom up at 4am to drive an hr and a half to pick me and two girls up after a huge fight and I had at the time no other choice. Without saying a word she picked me up and drove us to my house and then she went to work.

thats good u have good parents! im not really sayin parents should spank there kids at 16 and 17 im just saying they need to be disciplined

I was one of the fortunate few.

It really is hard to discipline an older child.
What I wonder is how parents discipline these 24+ yr old children still living at home? I'll be honest I wish I could still live at home and I'm 23, I'd LOVE to not have to pay all the bills I do. When is the cutoff that you stop raising your children and just let the natural law or cops deal with them?

I'm 22 and I still live at home, but I pay rent, buy dinner for them, help around the house, etc, etc. I also own/pay for my own vehicle, have a full time job, and go to school part time.
My parents basically said that if I'm a jerk, I can find my own place to go. At 18, they don't have to harbor you anymore, they can just kick you out.
I also feel that my parents did a great job of raising me, although, at younger ages, it's hard to tell that, not that you'd admit it anyway. lol.

i believe a kid should be spanked til a certain age, i wouldnt know what age to stop at until i have kids, after that, its "go to your room" " you arent going anywhere" "if you didnt go to school because you're sick, then you dont go anywhere"..things like that.. i know when i was younger, i got the belt..and a switch/flies swatter..
