Well your situation makes more sence, but I have to agree with Sinister on the Type Rs being a much better grade sub... If you've heard a Type R that sounded bad it was do to the enclosure, not the sub.
Now that I understand that you want to save money, it's understandable, but I wouldn't go shelling out cash for an older midgrade amp. I just think you'd be better off buying a new mid grade amp that will have better chances of life span for you...
Look at it this way: You pay $100bucks for an amp that you're lucky if you get 3 months use out of... and then you're back to square one.... Or you spend a little more and have an amp that will at least be under warranty for at least 1 year, but you'll probably get years of enjoyment out of... if not abused.
Just my opinion :)

Uhh, actually there's a JL10w0 in there, and I think you're a dick. :D

CarGodz, thank you for realizing my situation, and I do see where you're coming from. I'm looking into picking up an RE SE12 (opinions on the sub?). What amp would you recommend to power it? (Just got a little bonus, so I've got a littttle more to spend than I had planned :) )

your first post said you were going to power some kickers. also a w0 isnt that good of a sub either. se12 is a decent sub but they are over priced now. i use a se15 for home use and it does what i need it too. im only a dick when people stand up for crap and ignore what well experience people try to say.

I said that I was thinking of getting some, reason being that I can get them cheaply. (EDIT-) I wasn't sticking up for junk either, just stating that I could get it cheaply, and I wasn't ignoring well experienced advice, if I was planning on ignoring it, I wouldn't have asked to begin with. I've talk to you before in the past, and we've been fine, so I retract my previous statement about you being a dick, but what you said was rather "dick-ish".(/edit)

I got the w0 for free, hence, it's being used until I can get something better.

Also, who sells REaudio stuff? The "locate dealer" page on their site is down. And since you said they're decent but overpriced now, what would you recommend?

well for being easy to get and well priced a type r will do what a SE will do and you can get them dirt cheap on ebay. soundsplinter has some good deals, alot of other net companys have some decent stuff most of it modeled off everyone elses or atleast in some way. i like RE just dont like their parent company so i wont buy anything from them again. there is always something that will do the exact same as an RE product just a differnt name on it.

the SE can get pretty loud if need but its also a great sounding sub. if your looking for a great sounding sub id probaly go with a Bravox BVX. there are thousands of subs out there and im sure if youll find exactly what you want you just have to figure out how much you want to spend how much room you have what you want it to do and what you expect from it and how much power can you give it and at what ohm.

Well I've got a shit ton of room; 90 turbo supra (hatchback with the rear seats removed).
I'd like a sub with good sound quality, but also the ability to pound your ears out. It doesn't need to be overwhelmingly loud, just enough to be "too loud" ;)
Sound quality is important to me because I listen to a lot of rock (as well as rap) so the hit of a kick drum needs to be accurate.
Power can be provided however, at whatever resistance need be.
Price range needs to stay under $800-ish, without an enclosure, as I can build my own.

Any suggestions after this tid-bit of info?

sound quality with the ability to get loud.... Fi Audio Q. http://www.ficaraudio.com
Then put around 1000rms on to it, in a nice and low tuned box.... that thing will sound real good and get real low for that low stuff on rap.

An amp from Hifonics, Autotek, JBL, Kicker, will all be of a good choice. (i would personally go with an Autotek out of those).

Hmmm I like the prices on the Q's...that's for sure. How do they sound in a sealed box? I don't much like the sound of ported boxes...too "resonate-ish"

It will perform well in a sealed box.

But, if you design a ported box right, you would get that resonate-ish stuff. You can make the sub have a flat responce, but will get louder than a sealed box and still have the sq of a sealed box. If you tune them low.... in the area of 28-30, they should have a pretty flat responce and you wont hear any peaks in the responce.... and will get crazy low, louder than a sealed box, and will have the sq of a sealed box.

What size sub are you looking at getting??

Better question... You say you have more to spend now than you originally expected... What price range are you working with?
That'll help us point you in a good direction... and while you're out surfin the web looking at stuff... Try to remember you got some dealers on here that will usually give ya a preaty good break on prices ;) Hint: Me, Smoker, Team IA, hey Sinister... you still a dealer?
