5 Grand for my new system!
Hey watsup my names justin. A while back you guys helped me pick out my first system 2 12" VRs and a kx800.1 It was nice but not near loud enough for my taste. So i just got my new explorer (used) last week and still have 5 grand left over for my system. I want it to be loud as possible i was looking at 2 18" solo x's. Im afraid they maybe just a little to advanced for me though cause even the kicker site said they like to blow up.. So plz let me know what you think thx.

Ok.... if you want to go seriously loud, I would put money first into your electrical system.
Get some quotes for like a 200-300amp alternator. Get some 4g for the Big3 and get a real good start battery - my reccommendation would be a Deka Intimidator.
Then I would find a real big battery like a Kinetik 2400, Odyssey 2150, or other batteries of the like, or even a few of the Deka's i reccommended.
Then, you will need to spend some money on a few runs of 1/0 of good wire.
When you find out how much that will cost, then lets talk subs and amps.
My guess is you are going to want some power houses. I would suggest like a Autotek MM4000.1, 2 Elevation DX2000.1's, or other good quality amps.
For spl choices of subs, you could look at some Fi Autio BTL's, Elevation Execution's, DD 9900 series, and a lot others.... i'm not thinking too well at the moment, lol.
All of this needs to be backed up with a very very well made enclosure. You will be nothing without a well thought out enclosure.
For what you are wanting to do, you are going to need to do a lot of research to make the best of everything. And all if you ran all of the things i have said, you will be under that 5k budget.... you seriously dont need 5k for it. And don't forget your front stage!!!! If you are going to run some serious bass, you will want to have a nice sounding and loud front stage.

oh, and i didnt reccommend any good alternators. I believe the best in the business is Excessive Amperage. I have only read a handful of complaints about them, and many complaints about many other companies. They are top of the line, hand built alternators from them. And I will soon be running one of them too!!

or maybe a combination of the two (box that takes up the entire floor space)... $5k will take you a long ways but we need to know your goal.Bwcad1 wrote:how extreme do you want to get you want a daily box or a wall?
Some other names to look into: Massive Audio (naturally I'm gonna mention that one), Cerwin-Vega Strokers, DB Drive, Digital Audio, Fusion NV series, Alphasonik (Mayhem 900 series)... All of these will get Loud, some more than others, but it depends on what you really want.
