Young and dumb
I am really interested in car audio but am young and dont know very much about it and have some questions about my stereo.
I have have a ported box with a plexi glass front with 2 12" subs in it and am running a 1200 watt amp and i get confused when people talk about different ways to wire them up. So i was wondering if anyone could tell me what the best way to wire them would be.
Any help or knowledge would be greatly apprecialted.
Thakns.

The subs are 2 type R's powered by a V12. the subs are a 4 ohm i believe and im not sure on the amp but you guys probablly know.
sorry for the lack of informaton on them but i got the system as a grad gift and it was hooked up when i got them but doesnt sound to good which is unusual for those subs which is why i was wondering if something was wired wrong.

Something tells me its a bandpass and not a ported box. Do the subs fire towards each other inside the plexi area?
If the amp can handle a 2 ohm load bridged, then that will be your best bet.

Look at the top wiring diagram.

Your subs are definately suffering in that prefab bandpass box... at the very least look into buying a ported (vented) box for them... although building one or having one built specifically for your subs would be even better yet.

1 Cause its a prefab (one size fits all box)
Each sub is diffrent, so it requires a diffrent box (diffrent specs). Prefabs aren't designed to those specs, so the subs suffer.
2 Its a bandpass.
Bandpass boxes suffer in many areas. They play really loud in a certain range, and then drop WAY off one they get outside of that range. Thats why they can seam so boomy. There are exceptions, but they take alot of time to design and build.
