Tuesday I just tried out a Brand new Lanzar duel 12" Bandpass in my ford focus. Its the Lanzar SE series 600 watt subwoofers. And I must say I was impressed with how well these subs sounded. The whole bandpass system is 1200 watts max. I hooked them up to my 2000 watt Fusion amp. I didn't run them hard or anything like that for fear of overloading them and plus, this bandpass is displayed in our showroom to sell and stuff.
The bass was tight, clean and hard. With all the windows up, door closed and standing outside of the vehicle, you can hear it pretty good.
I just thought I would post this so anyone, especially beginners who are tight on money and want to run something in their car should give these a try.
I thought about picking up a pair of Lanzars, seeing as how cheap they are, but i decided to go w/ 1 15 in. American Bass DX instead of a pair of 12 in. Lanzars.

a few things... first of all.. you're advertising something thats going to get you put out of business on day? ever hear of the city that tried to ban subs larger than 10", stereos with more than like 5 speakers, and limit the wattage of a system? generally things like this happen because people want to be heard fromo far away, how ever, that is not a good thing... i don't think i've ever seen someone that was impressed because someone with a loud stereo drove by. my car saturn had a good bit of deadening in it, and it was MUCH louder inside than outside,e xactly how it should be. so for my sake, and most of this boards sake, and most people in this hobby... try to come up with anothe marketing technique other than "you'll be heard for blocks"! sheesh!
2nd... i havn't had much experience with lanzar or fusion, but if they're main point is max power, and come in bandpass boxes, i'm sure i'll stay away.. i guess if it works for you though.
i think stores kind of have to use whatever they can to sell stuff.. so "you'll be heard from blocks away" is actually what some kids want, so yeah they will tell em that..
Yeah I had a lanzar sub for a few min back in the day. I hooked it to a kicker impulse 125/2 and it lasted all of about 15 min. The cone seperated from the spider.
Sure their cheap, and get loud, but darth is right. Their marketing, and failure rate aren't that great.
And yes, people do want their car to be heard for miles, and no one is teaching them any better. If more shops would take the time to teach people that the more sound you keep in the car, the louder and better it will sound. We wouldn't have half the problems with the laws some places are trying to pass.
Honestly I hope they never do pass those laws, but if they do, it might help out the SQ world. Things would go closer to the way car audio started. Stealth installs, raw drivers, and no flash. Just pure, clean sound quality.
yea the american bass is a lot better sub....that being said i sell lanzar way more than i sell american bass.....lanzar was good stuff back in the day, and my "back in the day" is the same time line when a lot of you were counting your first pubes...maybe some of you werent born yet and some of you were pooping your pants and passing out on the floor after barney....so my point is about 20 years ago is back in the day to me......i like the subs, they can get as loud and sound as good as an elevation comp....for less money. i just sent a couple of max12's out the door with 500 rms on them and sounding killer......plus im using their midbass drivers in my own car....

You have to remember too, that when some young kid or anyone that comes in wanting to buy stuff, what do they first ask about the product: "Does this sub get really loud." Well at least they do around here lol. But whenever we sell items here, we always say to be responsible when using this stuff. Don't be blaring the music at night time or sitting in a residential area or Walmart parking lot blaring the music. We are well aware of the laws in our county and try to let customers know that. And if advertising our business this way is gonna put us out business, then I guess our competition here locally, should have been out of business a long time ago and he does basically the samething we are doing.

Thats the problem with local and state police. They tell us to get a hobby instead of doing drugs and drunk driving and all that so we all get into car audio and they are more focused with busting someone with a loud stereo and tinted windows then they are with druggies and people who like to get drunk and drive home.
I too sell Lanzar, although I don't always recommend...
And I too also remember the original Lanzar subs... and I can also tell you that one of the reasons that those subs sound so good in that bandpass is because they actually "fit" that box... Larger subs in that same box design are the ones that do really poorly.
And if you want to talk about halfway decent subs for the money... the Lanzar Optidrive Line still holds its own :)
Now as far as Fusion goes... They are still going the way of marketing and do advertise the max wattage... which honestly does kinda upset me since they do have VERY Good products.
