I picked four tens.
I didn't do any calcs, but I believe the total surface area works out to be somewhere in between the 15 and the 18.
Also, I didn't really dig through each of the spec sheets for those subs - but typically, you've got an Fs around 30hz for a 10, and an Fs maybe even below 20hz for an 18. If this were a SQ install, the low Fs might be a good thing - but on the other hand, the Q of a larger sub is usually not as "in control" as the Q of a smaller cone sub.
Not to mention, if you calculate out the "BL per square inch of cone area", you see you have a lot of motor behind those four tens, compared to the 18, most likely.
...think of it like a car and a car engine:
Compare a big old lead-sled (say, a '50 Merc?) with a huge 500 cu.in. engine to a VW GTi... with a VR6 in the front powering the front wheels, AND a VR6 in the back powering the back wheels. And make it a pair of those GTi's while you are at it (probably two would total close to the same curb weight as that old '50 Merc, right?
).
So there you have three cars lined up at the starting line at the drag strip.. one big-block '50 Merc, and two small GTi's with smaller motors - but two of them... much better power to weight ratio.
Which will be the better drag car?
Plus, I think there are more installation options with the four tens - one 18 is hard to even fit in a car usually, because it requires that box have at least an 18" x 18" panel on it (and likely larger really). On the other hand, four tens can be spread across a shorter, wide enclosure if desired... maybe a curved baffle... etc.
Just my opinion, if all were the same price.

So based on that, the tens would be the loudest option - and have the most control.
Of course, both those statements depend on several other factors (excursion, actual suspension compliance, motor strength, etc), but based only on that, and four motors that I am sure are more total BL than the single motor on the 15 and 18, I might bet that it would be true.
