This will answer ZeroAccess too, I hit a Ford Ranger, newer one. His bumper was bent a bit, and his tailgate had a dent in it. It really didn't look at all, his damage that is. I dont know if my frame is bent, I'm going to guess it is not.

I got the estimate today from insurance. It's about $7,500 to repair. (they didn't total it). But the collision place wants to strip it down and take a better look at it before they do the repair.

I guess I'll supply some more info:
I have full coverage with $250 deductable. (State Farm)
My car is a 2006 Corolla S auto tranny
I paid about $16,300 for it (before tax).

I also am perfect fine, thanks Zero ... and Toyota for that too

Looks like your motor stopped the bumper from going any further into your car.

Make sure you don't sign anything from the insurance company, until you know what the collision company says about how much your damage will cost to repair.

Absolutely. I did have to sign stuff to get my car towed to the collision place though. I did read carefully.

lol solacedagony. I think that is what happened!

Oh man that is horrible! I feel your pain. I remember when I wrecked my truck 8 monthes ago...it's a miserable experience. Hope it all works out. Pay very close attention to little details after you get it back. Things often don't fit back together properly after a wreck and break or wear oddly. I sheared off three C clip rings holding my trasfer case half-shaft in place inside the trasfer case, so it kept falling out after a few turns. Ended up finally getting the fourth to work, and havent had problems since. I think you have six monthes to claim the accident as the cause to issues with the car after you get it back.

Good luck man!

Yay, I just got it back.

It's really weird driving around with no stereo at all.

if the cost to repair is > the black book value of the car it's totalled.
If the airbag goes off, some companies total it because that indicates structural damage beyond the abilities of a simple rebuild job.

that's gonna cost at least $400

not neccesarily true about the airbags....ive had them go off at less than 20 mph.....with nothing more than minor cosmetic damage, the worst part of it was the airbags in fact
