it really depends on the price of the car. because your car is so new i think they may repair it.

It costs close to $3000 per airbag to replace. Plus there is the rest of the damage to replace. Especially, with the used cars they get are probably almost always totaled out when the airbags deploy.

Frame damage in the front of the vehicle.
Looks as if the drivers side a-pillar may be a bit bent up also.
Airbag went off.

Betcha it's totalled.

You can set an airbag off going 15mph.... and how much damage do you think that will cause??

Frame damage is like an automatic total with used cars. I got rear-ended during the summer, guy was probably doing 40mph. The damage wasnt all that bad, but he went under me and hit the frame, so they totalled it. How many rear-end accident end up being a total, sheesh.

Insurers make the total call.

Usually they dispatch an insurance adjuster. That adjuster views the damage and generates an esitmate of repair.

They put that against the cars value. Providing it cann be fixed for less than value of the car, they fix it.

You car looks possibly totaled. Remember, the cars worth probably 18-21K area blue book? SO its gonna be some heft unibody damage before they total it.

You might get a new front clip Bill... lol

If they fix it, you may be wise to sell it off. Usually fixed cars with hevy damage arent the same.

Im no expert but i knwo a lot of ppl whos cars have been totalled... A friend of mine has a Mercedes E320 and she did a similar incident on an offramp and her airbag never deployed at like 30mph... it was totalled, frame damage and bent A pillar... My mother hit a deer going 70mph and she had 9,000 damage on the front end but not totalled, and the engine had to be remounted and the radiator replaced... and lastly my friend rolled her blazer and the airbag went off but no total... so there is this weird range of what Insurance companies consider totaled

You better hope they total it. In fact I'd fight for them to total that. My fiance a long time ago rear-ended someone and the hitch on his truck went through her radiator. Anyways Blue Book on the POS van is like 3,500 a local dealership wouldn't give her more than 400 dollars on trade-in because it has excessive damage done to front end. It was fixed with a lifetime warranty from the bodyshop but the value goes to the crapper. I'd say the look of that one it will be totalled. You gotta thing the engine valve cover looks cracked so I bet it got the headers and a few other things I can't really see too well then you have the parts of the frame/front clip. I would be REALLY surprized if that didn't total out. I know I wouldn't keep it for certain! You will NEVER get anything back on it. You'll lose 5k easily if they fixed it and you went straight to the dealership to trade-in. Anyone with half a brain would run a carfax and run away from the car unless you knocked the price a rediculous amount.

Edit: Since no one said anything, glad you didn't get hurt (at least seems like you didn't) and no one else got hurt.
How bad did the vehicle look that you hit?

Like Zero said... Glad you're ok first off.
Second... Totaling out a car really depends on the insurance that you have.
Some will total if it costs 50% or more of the vehicle's value and others all the way up to 75%.
