Post by Chris from Kansas City »

I have been shopping hard for a new system for my 04 Sorento Ex, but I am a little worried about warranty issues and possible malfunctions it might cause to vehicle.

Aftermarket audio systems do NOT void warranties. Period.

If you really are worried contact the dealer where you got it from. They may require that you have it installed by a shop, but its not going to void your warranty.

BTW, what malfunctions are you worried about? If the install is done correctly, your vehicle will not malfunction.

if catches fire and burns to night becasue you don't fuse the power wire.. that may do the trick.. :-p

but yeah i doubt adding a system will void anything. unless you have a truck and plan on diong a blow through or something

Or if you are running 2,000 watts on a 60 amp alternator, they might not want to warrenty that when the alternator dies. :happy055:

As a former car dealer and present aftermarket dealer... Here's how it works:
The warranty on your car is not effected unless you make changes to the stock components... and then only those pieces are voided from the warranty.
Example: If you remove your factory h/u to replace with a Pioneer... Your audio system is now void under warranty.
If you remove your stock alternator to put on a high output alt... Your charging system is now void under warranty
If you remove your intake to put on a cold air... You got it!... Your intake system is now void under warranty.
I think you get the idea ;)
Your best bet is to get your new system from an authorized dealer so it will be under the aftermarket companies warranty :)

One other thing: always read what you sign. Sometimes they slip a little sentence in agreements and nonsense like that.

Just to be clear, you mean manufacturer warranties, right?

Dealer warranty can have their own stuff written in... can be good and bad.
