I charge 75 dollars an hour for my services. Well not me but the shop I work for. If someone doesn't want to pay we simply call the law. Now we have people that unfortunately problems arise and I'll tell you right now I personally stop doing WHATEVER it is to make the other customer happy. At min. I at least go to the customer and explain to him that I have a job I can finish in X minutes and if he/she would be ok to wait or need me to work on their truck immediately.
Selling the last exhaust to another customer is INEXCUSABLE and poor work ethics. Simply put if he is not the owner of the company I'd demand to speak with the owner if he is the owner I'd file a complaint immediately I have a feeling he'll tell you the exhaust didn't come in on time and yadda yadda yah and eventually he'll hope you tire out.

Happened to me as well in one of the cars I used to own. Unfortunately, it sounded good, and I didn't look under the car for a while down the road, but I was screwed outta the cost of two Magnaflows for some cheaper mufflers.

Tomorrow when I go in there Im going to tell him that he can either have it done in the next hour or I'm taking it to another shop and I'll see you in court..

I've been to nice the way it is... I will NOT waste any more time on this crap... If he wants he can send one of his worker bee's over to another shop and buy there mufflers, I dont give a crap how he gets it as long as it gets done...

Oh, and when I paid him he wanted cash so he wouldnt have to charge me taxes, thats a usual thing for him... I might just bring along my pocket recorder with me, I think its time he goes DOWNV

So I show up at 10am as he requested, this time he wasnt there. I told one of the workers about what happened and he said that he couldnt do anything until Earl got there at 1pm (Earls the owner).

So now I'm pretty furious. I get in my truck and drive straight to the police station. I talked to a very friendly police officer who said he'd meet me over there at 1pm to get things resolved. At 1pm the officer, my cousin and I go over there.

The owner looked shocked to see us walk in with the cop.

Earl: Can I help you?

Cop: Yeah, I believe that this you man would like to have the correct exhaust put on his truck.

Earl: Yeah, that wont be a problem.

Cop: Ok, so you'll be able to do that today, right?

Earl: Yeah, I can do it right now..

The cop looks at me and says "ok, if you have any more issues give me a call"

The cop leaves and Earl looks p*ssed. He grabs the muffler and walks into the shop. A minute later he comes back and I politely say "I'm sorry I had to do that but this is my 5th time here and its only fair that it gets done!"

He throws his pen down and start screaming "I told you monday, and what effin day is it, monday."

Finding a bit of humor in this Im like "well l came in earlier and they said you werent in so they couldnt do anything, so I did what I had to do, and like I said this is my 5th time here to get this resolved, its getting old."

Earl: What ever, you dont have to explain anything to me, Im not effin listening anyways... Just give me the effin keys...

Me: Whatever, just get it done..

We go outside and wait for it to get done. About 30 mins go by and he pulls it up next to us. He said "I just want to know one thing, how can you bring the cops here when I told you'd I do it today?"

Me: Because I've heard this 4 times already, this is my 5th time here because you dont know the difference between a flow pro and a flowmaster? Please!

Earl: Well take you effin truck and never come bring anything back here again, you hear me...

Me: *chuckles* Ahh shucks, does this mean Ill have to find other shop to rip me off?" You have a nice day, sure...

Yeah, Im seriously considering filing a complaint, but I dont want to mess with going to court... I do think I'll see about filing a complaint with the BBB, I think its clear he was just trying to rip me off...

EVERYONE AVOID J&K MUFFER located in sullivan missouri... Hes pulled this kind of thing before and is very well known to the police...

Definately let the BBB know about it and everyone you know...
Glad to hear it finally got resolved... too bad you had to go to that extreme.

If you really feel like getting back at him, talk to the local paper or newsroom, they usually love doing articles about this kinda stuff to protect the consumer(s)

I'm not sure the BBB will do anything because he did the job for you, regardless of how long you waited. My family had a problem with a pool place for something similar and that's what they told us.
The paper, on the other hand, would probably have a field day. :)

I'm not saying that the BBB will do anything for him, but if he just calls them up and files a complaint, then they'll have it on file for people that may inquire about the company in the future.

Well I'm glad you got your effin' muffler on, and I'm sorry it took your 5 effin' times to get it. I don't blame you at all for going to the police, I think if he was a reasonable effin' business owner no matter how mad he wouldn't have reacted like some crazed effin' monkey and at least maintained a certain level of effin' proffesionalism :P

contact the IRS and state collection board and inform them that he's working under the table to avoid paying his taxes.
