i don't consider a 16 year old doin 83 in 45 and actually getting a ticket for it, as really bad news.
slow down. you'll keep everyone around you safer, you'll save gas, and you'll save money on speeding tickets.
at first glance, "really bad news" is usually something more severe, say a medical or family emergency. you just got what was coming to you.

i learned the hard way. i got 3 very minor moving violations within a year before i was 18. one for a rolling stop at a stop sign, one for an improper left turn into the outside lane first instead of going into the inside lane and signalling over, and one for doing 50 in a 40. for that, i got a year suspension on my license with no privledges, and i couldn't drive my whole senior year of high school.
I hate to sound like the board parent (especially when I LOVE speed) but,
At 16 years old you don't have the experience to handle anything that could have happened to you or others. They put up different speed limits in different areas for a reason: Traffic, local population, etc.
Let's just say that no one ever stepped or pulled out onto the road and you're doing 80-plus mph, but someone may have thrown a can or bottle or something out in the road earlier... You get at least one flat at that speed... do you know what to do? Or maybe a racoon or something bigger jumps out into the road... do you know what to do? Now let's just say someone does pull out in front of you, cause they see you coming and assume you're going around the speed limit... do you know what to do?
I realize that almost every 16-18 year old thinks they are a very good driver, but if you want to prove it... Try going a few years with no mistakes (you know like: Tickets or Accedents) and with a lot of hours on the road on unfamiliar roads... and go get you some track time for a few years.
Then and only then... will you be considered a "Good Driver"

Im not going to sit here and try to knock you down about what you did. Im sure you realize you made a mistake just like everyone else has done at least once in there life. But anyways......
Go to court, make sure you look presentable, ask politely for a reduction or advisement of some sort, if denied say thank you and take it as a lesson learned. You could also try to get a hold of the cop and talk to him before the court date to see what he has to say, as long as you weren't an ass when he pulled you over he may reason with you.
I wouldn't try to justify what you did in anyway though, such as stating you were the only one on the road and such. I've been in and out of court a few times (for traffic issues) and being curtious and respectful will go a long way.
Good luck!

lol!,
Sucks that you got nabbed like everyone else though @16 I sped like an idiot and lost control of my car numerous times but never wrecked. I always thought I was a good driver..pfft I was lucky, now that I have some experience underneath me I can tell the difference between driving to the limit and just being stupid and losing control.
In all honesty if you enjoy speed and what not try joining some race tracks in your area or an auto-x event.
As far as first ticket it was only an 18over since then obtained 5 more (about one a year except for the last 2 years). Last ticket I was on a motorcycle and got busted doing 100+ in a 35mph zone. Cop said something like 148 while he was beating me up and throwing me in the car. Then we started talking and he lowered it down, and no Darthness not that type of talking lol.
Apparently I knew his daughter :) and said A LOT of nice things about her lol kept what her boobies looked like secret though
