NICE!!! What type of features does it have that aren't listed? peq, time alignment, x'over? or Is it just a pure sq HU to be used with external eq's and such?

Excuse my SQ ignorance...but what makes this unit superior to the high level pioneer and Alpine units for much less money?

processing...

Also its ability to reproduce the origin music more accurately than others...

This was about the top ranked HU by these guys:
http://www.elitecaraudio.com/forums/sho ... did=121657

Also came with good remarks from Joe...

I was looking into the MX 406, and this appeared better. I was looking into the Clarion DRZ 9255, but its review wasnt the hottest, but wasnt to bad either. It also scared me as to its appearance with no detachable face... THis HU, its more bland looking and less likely to draw a thief....

As for features. It features AM/FM and CD... Bass, Treble, Fader. I really think thats it, no anything else...

Wow, has it's own external DAC? Very nice and classy looking. Does it have a digital read out or is it straight old school?

This headunit is the same head unit as the DRz9255 Clarion without the PEQ, Crossover or T/A. It is pure SQ. Also the separate DA/DA converter is on a digital symbilink-type line. Excellence. This headunit new sold for over 3000 bucks 10 years ago.

Alpine has never made a pure SQ headunit since the 7909. And that hu was good, but not nearly as good as this one for SQ. This HU is better than the F#1 Status from Alpine. It is a pure chassis made only for one thing. To reproduce the best sound possible. BAR NONE. I had one of these in my demo car at the shop.

Also Ryan, I have a brand new DRz9255 I can buy from a friend that is priced at $700 for me and me only. He is a Clarion dealer and wants me to upgrade to the Clarion. What do you think?

I am sure I can get $350 for my 8455.

I was set on going for that Clarion, really.

The review on ECA for it wasnt to shabby. Seemed like an all around OK unit with no real big lows OR high points...

Price wise, not bad. You can get it brand new on E Bay for $650. A guy on ECA has a very slightly used for $600...

Im very glad I will be getting this unit. But my wallet is so hurt right now, its just in TEARS. I still havent cleared/collected my last CAD contract that I thought would be in/done by now...

Grrrr....

ooooooooohhhhhhh......that and a 7909 all in the same week.......im partial to the 7909 but it is an entirely emotional decision based on the fact that the alpine was the one to have when i couldnt afford it when it was new, of course i cant afford it now either
