I tend to look at what a person accomplishes while in office, politically not sexually. lol However, how do we know how any one person is going to perform, politically not sexually, when put into office. I have the hardest time deciding on who to vote for, and the commercials suck for the most part. As far as parties go, I am a democrat, but can someone really draw a clear line between the two main parties? Sure, you can distinguish the difference between a couple, but to me the difference between democrats and republicans is based on the actual people who vote and there beliefs. I am sure someone is going to tell me the difference, and I hope to get a good explanation because I sure as hell don't know what it is....and really don't care.

Odviously I was just rambling in that last half-assed paragraph, I'm not much into politics for the most part. I do feel my vote does mean something, I like giving my opinion, even when it is not asked for. That is about as far as I really want to get into politics for now..... :p

My personal political views:
POLITICS SUCK...
POLITITIANS SUCK...
We vote for whom we feel is the lessor of two evils
and where the hell is George Washington when we need him.

Please understand that I love our country and have no bias towards one party or another, but in my honest views of the most recent past presidents (which may be out of many of your lifetimes), Ronald Reagan was one of the best... Brought up the economy, brought back more jobs, ended the cold war, and told it the way it was with no sugar coating (probably why he was so addicted to jelly beans).

I loved Ronnie Reagan, and I concur with your statements. I vote for the lesser of two evils as well. We are two of the older chaps on this site, since I am about to turn 40 and all.

Ronald Reagan was the most recent. He was a great president, lots of accomplishments, prosperity... granted, our national debt never grew higher, but you can't have it all I suppose.

Interestingly, Ronald Reagan also declared "war on terrorism", sending bombers into Libya on a pro-active mission...

...the difference? Ronald Reagan is an honest man. He wasn't partly motivated to send those bombers to defend "family honor", he didn't lie about our reason for sending them there... and he didn't change his story as to why we sent them there when the original reason was exposed as a sham.

He also sent them on a mission that was both well planned, and fairly well executed, with a distinct start, and a distinct finish. And that included having a goal.

Common sense stuff... you would think.
Aside from the War in Iraq, what other negative thing can you say about Bush?
Holy crap... surely you can't be serious. :surprised

And "...aside from the war"?
Like that's not enough?

How about the way the war was managed, even if you overlook the scandal surrounding the entire "reason" we invaded (and the lack of a goal for being there, which wouldn't be the case if there were a reason ]something[/i]", without worrying whether that "something" is appropriate or effective, then you should have a wonderful warm and fuzzy feeling looking around you all day long.

But I'd bet you wouldn't try to take your mind off a papercut by taking out your pocket knife and sawing through one of your other fingers, right? :p

I'd propose the ultimate challenge - something that really shouldn't be difficult, something that really proves the complete ineptitude of our current President... name something significant that Bush has accomplished?

It's shameful, considering that many years ago - not even that many years ago (but less and less frequently as time goes on, it seems :( ), we had some truly great men as Presidents...
How sad is it to even ASK the question "Well, I mean BESIDES the war, what else has he done BAD?"
You must realize how ludicrous that question even is, conceptually. :argh
