amp??

Post by coot »

hey all whats up its me again i need some recoomendations on a sub amp that will put out a clean 1300 to 1500 wrms. cant spend more then 450 it will be running a 15 diamond d6 in an audioenhancers ported box. Tech support at diamond told me that as long as its clean wattage 1500 is cool. it will be in a 2000 cherokee with 200 amp alternator, pioneer premier deh-p680mp head unit and possibly diamond d6 or d3 6.5's, any opinons for the amp are welcomed thanks agian

Diamond amp to match (assuming they make one with your required power)? Kicker, MTX, Orion (I own one and it has worked well for me), JBL, Zapco, Arc Audio, etc. etc. Whatever fits your application, really.

I have a question?? Even though the guy from Diamond said the sub will take 1500rms, why would you even bother getting that much. Even though I havent had any experience with them, you dont really need to over power subs like you want to to get a desired amount of bass. The only time I see a need for really overpowering a sub is for competition use. If you really want to send it 1500rms, go right ahead, but I think if you got the D61000.1 would be plenty(you would save a little cash) and that would still be a overpowering its rms a little bit. Just my thoughts.

I was just listing them incase he decided to up his budget... A lot... :)

I just went to Diamond's website and the D6 15" takes 750W RMS, 1500W max, so yea, I wouldn't go much over 1000W (for headroom). Otherwise, you only really need to fill the RMS requirements since you'll probably hit its mechanical limit first anyway.

the d6 15" takes 750 rms = 1500 w max. so a good 1000 watt amp.with clean power would do the job.I have been doning speakers & amps for over 15 years.you could even go with a 500 w rms amp or 600 wrms amp.but anything over that is over kill.I had a pair of diamond 10" before.I had a small amp hooked to them.no one could guess that a had a pair of 10"they was so loud.I dont remember any thing about them.

I agree with Solace. I wouldn't go over a kw. A kw will give you plenty of headroom for the "clean" power you are looking for on a 750rms sub. Generally speaking, when someone says use clean power they mean get an amp with some headroom. With most daily driver applications, your subs will not be seeing the full kw. Again, go with a kw, and pull your gain back slightly. You will have clean beautiful sound coming from that Cherokee and those D6's. I would look into diamond as well, it never hurts to match sub and amp :p .

the 1500w max is never what you want to base power on. Take the rms and the max and add them..the divide by two. That way you can get an idea of a "safe" wattage to send to the sub.

Sure you can go for the max, but I agree with the group here, you don't need it. Besides you won't notice a difference between 1000w and 1500w in db's. You need to double the power to notice a 3db increase.

i think a good 1000 watts is perfect for that D6 the only sub in their line up that i have heard with more than 1kw is their D9 and the guy had 3kw going to it... still From what everyone said i would have to agree that the Diamond amp is your best bet... ur prolly not going to be able to buy from the manufacturer or get a warantee though if u only want to spend 450
