I seen the guys installs on here and the have there equipment custom to there trunk. I wanted to know how they did that because I currently have my amp screwed to the back of the speakers and thats the way everybody usually does it but I want to put it on the side of the trunk so I just wanted to know whats the steps to getting that done?
To mount it to the side of your trunk you will need to cut a piece of MDF, or whatever wood you choose, to mount the amp as well as secure the wood to the car. If you want it to look stock then you will need to be pretty handy with a jig or router. You definitely don't wanna leave it on the back of the box for 2 reasons, one, it makes it easier on a thief to take it all in one swipe. Second, the vibrations from your box will eventually rattle something looseinternally.
My bro-inlaw mounted his amp to the back of his box once, and the legs of the amp broke and it fell. Luckilly it did not do any damage, but case in point. He also only used 2 screws, idiot....
Someone else can break it down better as I have never owned a car, only trucks. I've done a few car installs, but the amps were mounted elsewere out of view.
