if im looking at the same company, i don't even see a 1200w amp fromt hem.

just guessing, that amp is probably 400-500wRMS, just by looking at some of their products (ie: 1500w max, 500 RMS on one of their amps)

Sound storm isn't the greatest of brands. I would look into a kicker, or JBL amp matched to the RMS of your subs. I have a feeling that 1200 watts is a peak rating that those subs will never come close to seeing from that amp.

Once you get some power, a ported box will give you about 3DBs of gain at the port freq, but I would even try it unless you have enough power to push the speakers in the first place.

I did find a 1200 watt amp on the site, its rated at 200 watts RMS a channel

Depends on how you have it wired up. They could only be getting 210 watts a piece if wired at 4ohm and prolly only about 400 if they are at 2 ohm. What is the VC config on those and how do you have them wired currently? I would look into a better amp to provide proper power and also a ported box tuned correctly.

Even on 200 watts those Kickers should come alive a little. What size/type box do do you have them in? To small of a box will make them sound like crap.

I used to sell SoundStorm and can tell you for a fact that amp only does 500wrms x 1 @ 2ohm... great if your pushing some cheap Volfenhag's in a prefab box... but really lacks what you need for your application.
Chances are if some people are telling you it's the amp and others are telling you it's the box.... It's probably a combination of both.
Cheap power is hard to find, but you could look at Xsite, Hifonics, Power Acoustiks, Spl, and Fusion to name a few... These are decent to good names that won't completely kill your pocket book.
