installing ball joints
installing ball joints
OMG, I just installed lower ball joints for my 1st time!!!!! It took me 6 hours in my driveway with all hand tools. Of course, I left the new balljoints at my job, so an hour of that time was finding a car to borrow and getting the parts. And I had to take 2 half hour breaks.
I split the pipe I was using for leaverage on the press. And it took me forever to get the pass side one in straight.
Just had to vent

Sounds sucky...
There are some things that I find Im highly capable of doing, others I wont even try...
Like Swapping a motor out. Ive done 2 this summer in 2 front wheenl drive GM cars.
Now Im having an issue in one with power steering leak. I looked at it, bought a part and farted around for about 1/2 hour and said hell with it, to a shop! lol

I did that about 4 years ago to my pickup. Where did you get your parts? I got mine from autozone, and am not to happy witht them ( I got them from there cuz I got the "friend works there discount"). Wasn't too hard a job, like you said about 3 hours. I am glad I done it, I couldn't imagine trying to break some of those bolts over now. Unfortunately for me, new coil springs are in the works, and probably another pair of tie rods at the least.MobileAudio219 wrote:I just replaced the upper and lower balljoints (both sides) and inner and outter tie rods (both sides) on my blazer, it took about 3 hours, but I had a garage and air tools...
mmmm sounds like a good time, no seriously, it sounds fun.GlassWolf wrote:I replaced the entire suspension in my car. upper and lower ball joints, control arms, shocks and springs, leaves, put in a new rear end, traction bars, urethane bushings, sway bars, all of that fun stuff.
My sway bar still looks solid, I need to replace my bushings like something serious. My truck just needs a full frame up, which will be coming as soon as I can afford another for daily driving. Once restore is complete, my truck will become a daily driver again.
I hate fixing cars... But love fixing them up. Confusing ain't it?!
The thing with me is I hate to have to fix something broke, so normally that's when I turn it in to an upgrade and then I don't feel so bad.
My rule is: If it ain't broke...You can still make it better :)
