Good place for component crossover?

Post by kevinberry1 »

Well, I got my rainbow components the other day and have begun installing them in my 99 Accord sedan. I was wondering if anyone knows of a good place to put the crossover? I know that placing them in the door is a bad idea so I am going to try to find a place behind the front door panel if there is room. If anyone has done a similar install please let me know what worked for you. Thanks.

Mine are on the back of the rear seat. They don't have to be anywhere near the speakers.

That's good to know that they don't have to be near the speaker. I will still probably try to put them somewhere up front so that I don't have to run too much speaker wire :)

BTW, the nominal impedence is 60 to 80 watts and I plan on using my PPI Sedona 200ix that is 100x2. If i keep the output down on my Audio Control 3xs should I be ok?

Maybe mount them under your center console? If you keep your gains down you'll probably be alright over powering your components...

I put mine in the door with the Cambridge COmps I had.

Never ever had a problem....

The PPI Sedona, is that the older series with a real high THD rate? Like a silver/gold color with a V in it.....

behind or under the center console, tucked up and strapped under the dash (behind it), behind the kick panels under the dash just in front of the doors, or if you fiberglass pods for the lower door fronts you can take the PCB out of the plastic casing for each XO and put the XO into the pod if you make room for it when laying the f'glass.
those are the common places I use.
