Hay, my car has a spoiler and ground effects.

Then again, I am only a partial ricer. I like hondas and acuras for what they are, not how the fart cannon sounds at 9000 rpm as the motor tries to self destruct.

Unfortanitly not many hondas are done corectly, just like the mini truck saga about 10 years ago. Everyone had one, but only a few were really nice.

i saw a car recently that could get upwards of 1000HP of stickers if that was the case

basically the entire body was covered in sonoco stickers.

While I respect what you said wolf, there are instances where many of those cars you listed perform well, granted a lot of idiots and new kids to the car scene will not know what they are doing, but when a real guy gets under the hood of a Supra and really makes it work its totally nuts... Same goes for the VR6 Corrado, ive seen em Beat out Vipers in the Quarter mile (O9bviously NO2) But still you need to have a good driver and a good mechanic to do the rest of the work if the car is already built up... I believe there is also a person a lil while ago who sold their Celica GT-S that was modded to the hills for something like 15gs and it was capable of speeds around 175 mph and quarter mile times of under 10.5... I am not saying that i wouldnt rather have a Sleeper Charger in my lane if i was draging but i always fear the massive potential of the Ricer cars

I agree with glasswolf, but captian pioneer is right too. I go to the races almost every friday night there are alot of want to be ricers but but i have seen alot of really fast ones that are there every friday night that are crazy fast dont know on the reliablility of them but they are there every friday night. If they are not reliable they must have lots of money then lol and extra motors. they are out there but would rather have a muscle car myself. if i had a scanner i would put up pics of my 65 mustang fastback its not as fast as glasswolfs but it runs 12.75s in the quarter with a 289 .060 ported stock heads no nos shift at 8200. My brother has took video but got erased ...arrrg grandma accident...it was a toploader 4 speed i launched at 5000 almost pulled the front left off the ground. but anyways. i like ricers if they are fast not the fart can with stickers. i have seen a twin turbo skykine run a 7.9 quarter mile thats fast!

This is my take on the whole "Tuner Scene".
A car built right is a good car! That goes for tuners and muscle alike.
The biggest difference between a 750 hp muscle car and a 750 hp tuner that are built correctly is one uses displacement and the other technology.
I myself have owned many a muscle car in the past (like my 78 Z28 with a 1969 corvette motor that pounded out over 600 ponies and and ran the quarter in 10.28 with street rubber) and I hope to have many more in the future, but right now I own a 1991 Stealth R/T (3000gt) N/A and have buried the 160mph needle on it.
I can appreciate any vehicle that is built right, even if built just for show.
So you wanna throw 20"s on a 1996 Impala SS and you like it, that's all that really matters in the end... after all it is your car and you should do with it whatever makes YOU happy.
Agree with my statements or not it is as always just my 2 cents :)

I have a hard time believing that GT-S. 7th gens are known as "slowicas" for a good reason.
FWD failures with extremely weak transmissions. Only way he'd run mid 10s in that car is with RWD conversion and a different drivetrain/motor.
then it's just a celica shell/body and nothing more.. something akin to funnycars.

the 3000GT is a pretty car. I test drove the twin turbo VR4 model when they came out, with AWS, AWD, active aerodynamics, etc.. neat cars.. just extremely heavy weighing in at over two tons. They weigh more than my '66 B-Body. It's a shame Mits couldn't have found a way to skim about 1500lbs of those cars. They'd have been a real rocket then.

My problem with most of the tuner scene is the rampant stupidity throughout much of it's members, and their obsession with fallacies like HP/liter having any meaning tor relation to performance or efficiency, or FWD economy cars having massive performance potential, or thinking a fifty shot of NOS on mom's Corolla is going to make the car walk a dragster.
You think I exaggerate, but alas, these are all things I've seen, and much more.

Here's the big difference I've found from experience between tuners and musclecar wrenchers:
People with old big V8s, building power have to know what they're doing, and have a fairly intimate knowledge of their cars, and how every aspect of that car works in order to build a lot of power (generally speaking) because most of the ways to build that power are esoteric tricks and arts learned from others, and through experience. Port-matching, setting timing, cam grinds, things like this are all skills needed to make it work out.

Tuners.. thrive on "bolt-ons." Everything they do to a car is out of a friggin catalog and twelve other cars on the block already have the exact same mods. It's so cookie cutteresque, that 95% of the tuners out there have literally NO understanding of anything about the function of the components of their vehicles. They just bolt on parts, and hope everything works together. Then they make up HP numbers, and run around trying to race everything on the highway.

I just get tired of sitting at lights and having some kid in his mother's Acura rev up and give me stares, like he thinks there's any way in hell he'd stand a chance. It's not even worth the effort of engaging the trans-brake.

Sure there are fast imports out there. I still believe however that there's no replacement for displacement, because no matter how much forced induction you slap on a small high revving engine, I can slap more of the same onto a bigger V8, and with OHC i4 and V6 engines being so physically huge, they don't really weigh much if any less than a cam-in-block V8, and the V8 is physically smaller, to boot.
example: mazda 13b rotary engine. "1.3L" (according to mazda.. which is bullsh*t by the way it's actually 3.9L) is about the same size and weight as an LS1 V8, and the LS1 produces more torque and horsepower, both stock and built, and with greater reliability than the apex-seal failing, turbo-eating, intercooler failing rotary.
